Why I'm not adding a sub to my 2-way monitors for music
You definitely were on the right track by avoiding boost and cutting the peaks.   Just curious how close your speakers are placed near the walls?   I am not a total sub fiend but even though my mains go to 45Hz as measured, the two REL T9i I hav...
Zephyr MIMC vs Hana ML
Sharing some thread relevant cartridge experiences- Had an original ART9, loved it to death.  huge value.  Ortofon Cadenza Blue was a significant upgrade in most, but not all areas.  Bigger sound and dynamics but the ART9 was more colorful and r...
Best AMP for GE Triton Reference Speakers
@jpeters568 I heard these speakers a few times at different dealers and at the AXPONA audio show chatting with Mr. Gross. By far the best sound (and the only time I actually liked their sound) was at AXPONA driven by a PrimLuna EVO 400 tube amp...
Rogue Audio Atlas Magnum III Power Amplifier
I noticed minimal to no difference running the ST 100 in triode with my Harbeth speakers.  seems to be mirrored by other Stereo 100 users.   Stick to ultralinear.
Rogue Audio Atlas Magnum III Power Amplifier
@couger4u  I owned the Rogue Cronus Magnum II for several years (Atlas amp section).  Then I upgraded to a Rogue pre and Stereo 100 amp.   The Stereo 100 felt and sounded like twice the amp of the Atlas regardless of wattage spec.   Sounded on ...
Rogue Audio Atlas Magnum III Power Amplifier
Your speakers have 3-ohm impedance in the midbass region.   While they may sound god with the Atlas at moderate volume, the 3-ohm midbass region will tax the amp such that above moderate levels midbass will run out of steam.   Can you stretch to...
Are tubes psychological?

When to Amp it Up?
Better amplifiers have sounded better in my system and not necessarily related to power.   Latest example I went from a well regarded high powered newer amplifier to an extremely well regarded amplifier with much lower power.   The sound was mor...
What makes the biggest difference in sound quality?
Interconnects- significant positive changes. Speaker cables- less significant positive changes. Fuses- no changes.  Power cables- less significant negative changes.
Anybody use a single ended component with one that is balanced?
FYI here is my neutrik adapter using the XLR cable from preamp, in this case neutrik female to male RCA.   In the OP's case he would use a female XLR to female RCA at the preamp.
Finally, ultrasonic cleaning for the masses!
Just received the humminguru and I like it and the results.   cleaned 6 records yesterday in about half an hour.  operation is simple-  fill the removable reservoir with 400ml distilled water to the line.  pour into the top of the unit.  inse...
Anybody use a single ended component with one that is balanced?
WORTH A TRY. Sounds NOTICEABLY better between my Cary preamp and Pass amp.  I have compared the two options extensively and everything (sound stage, dynamics, transparency) sounds better.   Return them if it doesn't work out.   https://www.ne...
burn in - how important?
The Rogue amps get very little credit for some reason.  Strictly on sound they can hold their own with more costly and seemingly higher regarded products.  Burn in does matter- more so for solid state for some reason in my experience.  After a we...
Your tube amp related Harbeth experience.
I have run the Harbeth C7ES3 and SHL5+ on tune amplifiers in my med-large room.  I tend to like the higher powered KT120 amps and used the Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II and then the Rogue Audio Stereo 100.   The sound in all cases was sublime.  Ro...
Preowned Wilson Audio Chicago Dealer
I have had the same issue and I know who/ what you are referring to.  Tried to buy a few items over the years and was discouraged each time and switched to something else which I did not buy.  One last attempt this past fall for a Pass amp and of...
