Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
In any case this was a snake oil debate…we went off on a tangent.
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
Guys - neutral is not a thing. Everything adds color. Including your room and the chair you sit in. Your big furry dog and a coffee table between you and the speakers will alter the delivery enough to render it inaccurate. You can keep telling yo...
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
@mijostyn I don’t like distortion. I am also 100% sure you have no idea what the musicians in the studio sounded like to use as your baseline for judging how accurate or neutral a component really is. It’s all a perception. So let’s not go there.
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
Let’s just not forget that accurate doesn’t only mean tonal accuracy. It also means accuracy in conveying the emotion. Saying that benchmark equipment is more accurate than tube preamps, DACs and amps is incorrect. Some of the best guitar amps use...

Oh and one other thing…the N200 is optimized for USB so select a DAC with solid USB implementation. Berkley Alpha for example doesn’t even feature USB input. So just be aware and do your research.

@navyachts considering you are running Aurender N200, I would stick with reputable DACs in the same retail price range or more. You’re looking at $6,0000 + DACs. This criteria eliminates a lot of sideways moves and somewhat eliminates most hyped D...

Check hifishark sold items. I’m seeing most under $4000. It’s up to you. Not familiar with how easy it is to sell this DAC. You also have a few Bricasti M3 out there meaning you can potentially score a good deal. Yes the M3 is the starting point o...

If the price is right and it’s something that sells fast, I’d try it. But only under these circumstances.

@navyachts one other thing I wanted to mention - for your next DAC don’t be afraid to push towards more resolution. With ML speakers choosing DAC that is on a warmer/too laid back side of neutral would be a less than ideal match. I’ve not heard Pl...
Marantz SA10 sacd player
Both the Bricasti M3 and the PS Audio DSD Mk1 DACs beat the SA-10 even on redbook playback. Feed those DSD and forget about it.  SA-10 is solidly built and overall exudes quality but sonically it missed the mark.

@navyachts not sure yet what the next dac will be. Still thinking about it. Not in a hurry at the moment.
Software converting PCM to DSD using DoP
@erik_squires PS Audio DSD MkI doesn’t support native DSD
Gustard R26 ladder DAC sound signature - comments?
Cool. Then it’s either defective or just sounds like that. When the OP receives a replacement unit we’ll know.

@navyachts I had the M3. Using the PS Audio for time being but might be upgrading soon. The PS Audio DSD MkI is a really nice DAC as well.
