Covers on unused RCA inputs?
I used Cardas RCA caps and there are no audible effects. Scratches on the input rca jacks, but less dust, is about all these things were able to achieve in my system. And what is it with the bleeding of signal from other sources? I've seen so many ...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?
Joe, I'm auditioning the Accelerator speaker cables right now and really like them. I am using Acoustic Zen Silver Ref MkII from cdp to pre and Matrix Ref MkII from pre to amp. The SR speaker cables blended in really good with the AZ interconnects...
VH Audio Flavor 2 and Flavor 4
Samzx12, cool that you remember this!!!If you run Hydra for the preamp and cd player, then I'd say Audience will be pretty good. This is the exact combo of power cords I had + Hydra2.
VH Audio Flavor 2 and Flavor 4
I'd go with Audience on the cdp. Audience is a better sounding cord for digital. I always keep coming back to it for my cd player.VH Audio Flavor 4 is a good cord, but very tough to work with because it is not flexible at all and it is pretty heav...
used CDP recommendation for use as transport
see if you can pick up a used Sony DVP-S7700 dvd player. Solid built and has a good transport.I used it to feed a Bel Canto DAC2 and it was really nice.
System advice
as far as I know CJ preamps don't have XLR ins or outs.ARC LS-15 is a good preamp. If you consider it, pay attention to the version of this preamp. The one with InfiniCap capacitors is superior to the one with the REL caps. Also, you may want to c...
Loud Audible Hum/Noise from C/J Tube Amps
cable tv sometimes causes this. try taking the coax cable out of the cable box then turn the system on without the cheater plugs and see if the problem is still there.
Is an IPOD hi-fi?
Planckscale, this forum is under Misc Audio. Once it gets to Digital or Amps/Preamps section, then be alarmed.Keep your mind open as well, not only your ears.
How far would you drive to audition a component?
Jrun, wow man. Did he cover the fuel and tolls?
Cable Burn-In Question Interconnect & Speaker
If you have a tube preamp, then run your tuner or cable box 24/7 into your preamp with the rest of the system including the preamp turned off. Do one pair of ICs at a time. Or if you have a solid state preamp, you can have the preamp on and burn i...
Parasound JC-1s Not Working
despite the test at radioshack(I wouldn't rely on it anyway), I would still replace the fuses. Sometimes the fuse is blown right under the metal cap and you can't see it. Sometimes when the fuse blows it welds itself together again. It's only few ...
"Grainy" highs problem...
Change the digital cable from dvd player to the processor. Try Marigo 5.6 or 5.7 or Virtual Dynamics NiteII or Master. Will get rid of the grain. That's your most important cable right now, followed by the interconnects from processor to amp.Also,...
Speaker Bi-Wire...which frequency does it benefit?
depends on the speakers and the cables. what kind are they? some speakers will benefit and for some it won't make a difference, but again depends on what kind of speaker cable are we talking about. Shotgun or internally bi-wired?
Marantz CD-17...want to run XLR
I think you may still get some improvement out of the Krell if you'll use the RCA-XLR adaptors. But you will not fully utilize the Krell's balanced circuit. You can try though and see what it'll give you.
Meridian, ARC or Cary?
I've heard the 303/300 and I was not that impressed. G08 is a good player but is a bit gentle sounding when it comes to dynamic transients.I just think ARC CD3MkII would be the better choice. Especially with the rest of ARC electronics. It is a gr...
