Pass Labs XA30.8 for Dynaudio C1 Platinum What is your room size? I own the XA30.8 and I’m pretty sure it would have no problems driving your Dynaudio C1 speakers in the small to medium size room. It has no issues driving the Martin Logan Montis where the panel impedance could drop unde...
Is my power chord going bad? @blue_collar_audio_guy Good call!
Pass INT-25 better than Wilsenton R8? Not only the Pass amp needs around 200hrs of break in, it also needs at least 1hr of warm up every time you turn it on to do some listening. Give it a chance. Don’t think about trying to hear a $5,000 improvement. Just enjoy the music and you’ll b...
Upgrade path question with $2k to spend You received a sound advice to sell the yamaha and get an integrated like Hegel. You’re on the wrong path with the Marantz TT-15 (killer table/cartridge combo) that you will run it into that Yamaha / project DS bottleneck and will successfully off...
Changing Tubes Email Brent Jesse for advice. http://www.audiotubes.com/ Mention what preamp you have, how many tubes you need, what sonic characteristics you’re looking for and your budget. I’ve gotten tubes from Brent in the past and he was always spot on wi...
A Plug For a Power Cable and a Retailer I’m running my Puritan PSM156 power conditioner with the stock Puritan cord. I was thinking about upgrading it but I like its flexibility and light weight so decided what the heck I’ll just upgrade the plugs and went with the Furutech FI-15 R and ...
Will a wireless streamer add problems to a signal coming out of a computers USB output? Look into connecting your streamer to the denafrips using USB. There are some posts claiming USB as the best sounding interface with denafrips.
My First DIY Power Cable Furutech is a good start in my opinion. Check out VH Audio for cables and connectors. Another good resource is Sonic Craft for Neotech power cables and connectors. I’ve gotten good results with Furutech Rhodium connectors on two Furutech power co...
Is my power chord going bad? @blue_collar_audio_guy what happens if you move these interconnects to preamp/amp connection and conduct the same experiment? Do you still get that hum?
recommendation for phono pre amp and mc cartridge, around 1000$ each @stone1 I haven’t tried phono preamps in $1000 range (was in the $300-$500 range) other than my Sutherland KC Vibe MkII. Cartridge is Hana EL. I listen to the same styles of music as you do and this combo works great. You can go higher in the Ha...
Audio Research Ref 75 SE: Replace 20A IEC inlet with 15A Swapping the cable connector is the easiest and best way to approach this. Keep the amp original. Get a good Furutech (or something similar) 20amp connector and swap it on your cable. VH Audio is an excellent source for quality connectors. Great p...
Surprised by streamer differences Funny…I’m using Benchmark DAC 3 HGC. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts. Prior to benchmark I went from Chord Qutest to Bryston BDA-3 to Benchmark. Liked the Benchmark the most.
Surprised by streamer differences When I had my Aries G1 I found lightning DS to sound better than Roon. Try it. I also tried AES and Coax out of AURALiC and neither compared favorably with USB. FWIW I’m now using Lumin U1 Mini and like it better than the AURALiC.
Is it worth upgrading my current turntable setup? @blue_collar_audio_guy Simple really…. You have a very good cartridge (not overkill by the way) on a solid turntable. May be the table isn’t as good as some other higher end belt drive models but even with the amplification chain you have liste...
Is it worth upgrading my current turntable setup? No. Your turntable and cartridge are probably the strongest links in that chain. |
