Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding?
At this point the cure is worst than the disease. Dump this phono amp and get one that’s properly designed to not be susceptible to this type of interference at least within your setup. Seriously. You’re going to drive yourself nucking futs.

@juanmanuelfangioii ok awesome. Details please…sound signature…warm, neutral, bright? How’s the imaging and clarity? How do these compare to the cables they replaced and what were those cables?
Looking for a DAC that's better than Mc C47
Look into a used Benchmark DAC3b should be around your budget. Chord Qutest should also be a step up. These two DACs I’m familiar with and I heard the dac1 built into McIntosh integrated.  Other choices just based on reviews are Schiit Bifrost, ol...
Higher End DACs
@tubeguy76 cant talk about Denafrips, never had a chance to listen, but had and enjoyed very much a Chord Qutest. It has a natural tone, is detailed and sweet. You can also select different filters that alter the sound. The orange filter mellows t...
To all of the Wilson Audio owners:
I’m enjoying the Sabrina. As the others pointed out, speaker placement with the Wilsons is critical. It can make it or break it. I ended up with about 4ft from between the speakers and the wall behind them. Also how far away you sit from the speak...
Are Expensive Balanced Interconnects Necessary?
In my experience it depends. For example, the Pass Labs preamps and amps sound better with XLRs. Also, using XLRs with these components diminishes the audible difference between cables. I have experienced the same with Audio Research LS and Ref se...
Just received my B&W 802's: One tweeter doesn't work - HELP!
I wouldn’t sweat it about crossover damage if it sounds fine. Just enjoy it. I would insist though to get reimbursed for new twitter.
Chord Dac
Keep the Qutest. It’s a great DAC.
Just received my B&W 802's: One tweeter doesn't work - HELP!
@nyev either the retailer never tested these speakers to verify they were working properly or something happened in transit (doubt it). Start simple - check the connections if you can pull the tweeter.
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding?
@filipm absolutely…you have to try everything you can. Hope you resolve this soon. Keep us posted.
New streamer, new to streaming
You can AirPlay to H190 from iPhone or iPad as long you have one of these devices and they’re on the same network with your Ethernet wired H190. Radio Paradise app is all you will need. The sound quality via Airplay won’t be the best but will give...
Phono Stage Gain - how does it impact sound?
@macg19 thanks! Trying a bigger amp is something I’m considering as well. I do love the sound of Pass Labs XA30.8 though. It’ll be sad if it’s underpowered for these speakers.
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding?
@filipm I doubt there’s this much noise in your power line that would cause this. The power supply in the EAR would take care of that. Your phono amp, tubes or cables act as an antenna that’s mostly what it sounds like. But anything is possible....
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding?
@filipm you have 3 tubes? And the noise is in both channels? I’m assuming one of the 12ax7 tubes is a rectifier? I would just replace that one to start with.  Going back to ss doesn’t sound very appealing :)   Well there may be other tube unit...
Tube PHONO preamp interference - RFI, EMI, bad grounding?
@filipm it’s unclear to me what you tried with wifi? Did you physically unplug from the wall all your routers, access points, extenders, devices that receive and or broadcast wifi and Bluetooth? Turned off all mobile devices (including phones, sma...
