Audiogon member suggestions for a speaker that sounds good at low volume!!!
I had a First Watt and sold it to a friend who used if for a time and then sold it and got Atma-sphere M60s . The improvement with the M-60s was significant. To be fair the M-60s also beat out my VAC Phi 200 and 2 300B SETs by a wide margin.

I didnt read all of the responses, but you guys are missing the obvious which is the type of amp driving the speakers. To may way of thinking this is Audio 101.

I find tube amps to be better than S.S. for sounding linear at low volumes.

Run the Herron directly from the wall outlet.
To Couple or Decouple?
My initial suggestion, as someone else has said, is to couple onto decouplers

The only forums I enjoy more than Audiogon are the ones which give me pointers on how to make my $ 10,000 snowmobile go faster, make more noise and burn greater amounts of fossil fuel.
How thick should the front baffle of speakers be?
A singing cabinet is the natural and unavoidable byproduct of a thin walled cabinet. If this singing is pleasant or not is another issue altogether. Mr Shaw can can say whatever he wants about design goals and perceived sonic realities but the fac...

Harbeth owners no doubt like the way their speakers sound, but on the larger models the resonant cabinets impart a sound that isnt on the original recording. All speakers do this, but on the Harbeth models I have heard this flavor is very apparent...

Well I dont think a speaker can sound accurate with one genre of music and not another. Harbeth's lossy cabinet represents the worst possible approach to this problem in my opinion.

I would think that aluminum would sound better due to the simple fact that it is roughly 3 X stronger than wood. I would also think that equal parts of aluminum would be much heavier. 3 X the wood to equal the strength of aluminum would still be l...
Klipsch K Horns (the new AK6)
Actually I agree with you regarding dynamic drivers with horns or electrostats. One of the worst offenders  I have heard to date are the Sanders speakers. No doubt people should buy what they like but the Khorns to me have always been significant ...
Klipsch K Horns (the new AK6)
The only way to improve on some of the Khorn flaws is to redesign the speaker. I know of no serious enthusiast that uses DSP. This doesnt mean that these people dont exist, I just dont know any. I dont believe for a moment that DSP doesnt have a s...

3/4" plywood didnt work just fine. Resonance is a bad thing. Think of the surface area of a large speaker cabinet much if not all of which is vibrating.
The low frequency response is Bass, not Base.
What exactly are you bassing this on?

I would strongly suggest you give up a bit of efficiency and go with a sealed box design. Ported small box designs, especially, IMO should be avoided. You could check out ATC to see what they offer.
