Need Help, B & W 702 S2, KLIPSCH RF 7 III or Focal 926
Focal first and Klipsch last.
Who needs a Preamp??
I have never been able to get a passive preamp or a direct connection to sound right. It seems like the drive of a good active preamp always improves the sound of my systems.
Klipsch speaker choices
Edgy and dynamics are not the same thing and any experienced listener should be able to differentiate.I think you need to determine what you like and dislike about your Klipsch speakers and then determine what you think is intrinsic to the design,...
Has anyone done any business with Quads Unlimited lately???
Wayne's reputation seems to get worse with every passing minute. I hope he doesnt owe you money or work on a pair of Quads. Shame because he really knows his stuff.
Best Analog for $10K
Second the Kuzma suggestion!
THE NEW POLK LEGEND SERIES
KenjitRead what clearthink says on this subject. You are wrong and he is correct! Further, the burn in of components such as capacitors is a well known phenomenon.
Considering simplifying my system... talk me down (or whatever)
I was never a fan of Sonic Frontiers and was glad to see that you didnt have one of their amps. Considering your speakers, I would be very tempted to go all tube. Dont be afraid to get more than flea power! I am very impressed with the Resolution ...
Dreaming of a DIY 8W Class A amp designed by Nelson Pass?

I agree with kenjit on this.
Why do Harbeth speakers have such a cult following
Certainly my favorite speakers in this line are the speaker model(s) without ports. I also favor the 2 ways due to the simpler crossovers. I agree that the Harbeths do as well on rock as they do other material. No speaker worthwhile does any type ...
Why do Harbeth speakers have such a cult following
IMO Harbeth speakers, at least the ones I have heard, are easy to listen to and dont bring about the same level of fatigue as many other speakers. However this forgiveness comes at a price which is why they are not even on my "short list" of speak...
Phono Preamp
It is precisely devices like preamps, DACs, etc in which small signal tubes are used that have no downside when compared to similar S.S. components. With tube amps things get a bit more complicated.
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
I am glad that someone has finally mentioned, or at least implied, that the house sound of ATC is more neutral than that of Harbeth.
Trying to find someone with a cable cooker in Metro NY
Thanks for the response. It sounds like a great deal of fun.
