In the middle of a pandemic, Stereophile reviews ~ $30K equipment Nothing that Stereophile does in the future could make them any less viable than they are at present. Wolf.....give it a break. Nobody cares about either of our political opinions.
If Audiophiles care about sound, then why so few threads on acoustics Many want a simple plug and play solution.
Schiit Freya+ vs. high end (e.g., Mcintosh) ? A very good value, but it doesnt punch much above it weight. The older ones I heard were noisy even for a tubed pre. Hopefully they have improved this aspect with the newer models.
Are integrated amps technically better than separates? Not the quality of the cable in the walls argument yet again. I dont know why it is such a stretch to understand that any improvement made before or after the AC outlet helps. Improve what you can where you can. Also why in the world would the pow...
Difference in sound between Siemens e88cc and e188cc? My listening experience with Siemens in this family is a bit limited, but I never found another tube by Siemens that beat my early 1960s 6DJ8/ECC88s. Didnt like the A Frame 6922s from the 1970s one bit. I believe that I only appreciated the Siemen...
Are integrated amps technically better than separates? NO! There is simply no getting around the advantage of separating components, power supplies, etc.
Missing tube integrated for Klipsch Forte III? O.K. so its a passive radiator. Do you think that putting a speaker with a passive radiator against a wall is a good idea?
Missing tube integrated for Klipsch Forte III? I think that the triode (6550, KT88s, etc) amps are going to be better top to bottom if you want a more linear/accurate tube presentation. If want a warmer and thicker presentation then the pentode (EL34 EL84) amps will be better. I far prefer the...
Shootout of Nos 6sn7 tubes I think the real question should be if the money you save by using a second tier old stock tube could pay higher dividends by making improvements elsewhere in the system or in the room.
What should I do? Our pleasure. Wanted to make certain that you knew our opinion. Our company (2 people) havent heard all of the cartridges in this price range, but your cartridge certainly bested some of the bigger names we auditioned.
What kind of listener are you? With respect I think that if you break listening down into categories you need to rethink your approach. It is either organic or it isnt. So I guess it is pure feeling for me. The experience is either immersive or it is not. Of course
Tube Testing This is a service that we offer. Most testing done on a calibrated Triplett 3444. Can test power tubes at real world levels with noise/microphonic testing as well.
Shootout of Nos 6sn7 tubes Bass too tight? Of this group I think the Tung Sols are the best. With probably the Raytheon as my 2nd choice. Ken Rads are usually very problematic in high sensitivity applications. K.R.s probably my least favorite. The GTBs tubes from the 1960s ...
What should I do? You have a very good cartridge! We sold one of these to a client and it was the best we had heard at its retail price.
Will upgrading Umbilical cord power supply to preamp improve sonics Although they make good products I would be very cautious when dealing with Revelation Audio. Please do some research.Dont forget the connectors as well. You havent mentioned what type of preamp you own. |
