Think fast: What would you take? I am not sure that what miller is saying is entirely political but more a commentary on the state of affairs in our country and those most responsible for this condition. For the record I am not a liberal and in fact far from it, but to suggest th...
Think fast: What would you take? I have a friend that lives in West Linn and he is just furious and has been for some time. I do feel sorry for much of what you are going through but not the social unrest. I may not agree with miller on some things audio but he raises some good p...
Never Owned a Tube Amp and Want Advice I rarely if ever disagree with Ralph and find his amps among the best I have ever heard. It was millercarbon that made the statement which I questioned. BTW this isnt the first time miller has made this statement about tubed vs S.S. watts.
Never Owned a Tube Amp and Want Advice Here we go again with the statement that tube watts are greater than S.S. watts. This statement is patently false and should call into question anything this member says in the future. Also, I maintain that impedance is more important in the great...
Preamp Rectifier Tube Confusion 5AR4 and GZ34 are the same tube. I think that the Mullard is the best I have heard but the Matsushita made 5AR4s are actually very good. I am not a fan of substituting different tube types and would stick with the rectifier around which the circui...
Anyone own an NRG Control PA-1 Preamp or A401M monoblocks? The amps were really good at the time. Dont know how they would stack up against S.S. of today. It seems to me that the amps were a bit unstable and had problems. I dont know anything about their preamp.
Burn In... the Age Old Question, Cables, Components, and Speakers I have the Audiodharma and this device takes my cables to a point I could never reach with normal practices. I was especially impressed with the burn in of the tonearm cable. I am a believer because I have heard the difference and it isnt subtle.
Syng research foundation cables I have heard a great many cables in the S.R. line, some in my own system and I dont think any were bad cables but I certainly found what I thought were better sounding for far less. I dont think I have heard any of this particular series. I have a...
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers I get a real charge out of people/reviewers that call Harbeth speakers neutral.
Best way to pay for audio purchase? C.C.
Is Break-In essential and potentially dangerous for the Audiophile? I agree with millercarbon on this one. Not only do I hear differences in components as they burn in but I also hear differences on burned in devices as they are played over several hours.
Tubes? I used to think that SETs had a magical quality with the right speakers. 8 hour listening sessions over a few days comparing SETs (300B single and parallel single ended), KT88 push pull and OTLs was a real learning experience. Speakers used were t...
Tubes? Tube watts are not greater than S.S. watts to say so is simply stupid. If you think you hear more volume with a tube amp it is simply distortion or clipping. S.S. and tube amp designs each have a series of advantages. Much of which amp will be app...
Is Break-In essential and potentially dangerous for the Audiophile? So Doug you dont hear a difference in gear after a few hundred hours of use? Or is the difference overstated?
Is Break-In essential and potentially dangerous for the Audiophile? I think that you need to differentiate between damaging a component and being ineffective. From my perspective, I cant think of any burn or break-in procedure that could do actual damage. I have had superb results with my Audiodharma device and am... |
