Subwoofer Decisions - REL/Rythmik, Pair/Single, Paper/Aluminum Driver, etc.
In my system I am currently using a REL S5 SHO, a Rythmik F12SE and two SVS SB4000’s. My room is 10 x 14. When I first started using the REL, I used the speaker level input but have since changed to using the rca inputs. To me using the line level...
EQ / Dsp... Who’s using them?
DBX makes a pretty good product in both e.q.s and DSP units at pretty decent prices. The Klark-Teknik DN360 has been considered one of the best analog e.q.s for decades. I believe they are still in production but I don’t know for how much longer s...
Sub wiring help, high level speaker terminal to RCA line level Sub inputs
@nsm1979Hi Neil, the last time I checked, Rythmik did offer an amp option that contained a high level input. I would contact Rythmik with your questions.
Stereo RELs, two different sizes?
Unless you are overdriving the T/9i, and I highly doubt you are, it is highly unlikely you will hear any difference if you replaced it with a second S/510.
REL subs with Acoustat 1+1s?
What's nice about that arrangement is that the ESLs are left to do the elegant work while the sub handles the heavy stuff. It actually works quite well.Hi musicfan2349, that is why I mentioned the JL Audio "e" series earlier in the thread. The "e"...
Anyone Successfully Go from Floor Standers to Bookshelf Monitors w/ Subs?
The short answer is yes. The helpful answer is probably much more complex. If you want to use a monitor you will want to design the system so the subs do the heavy lifting. IOW the higher the crossover point the better.  Your concern about a 6.5” ...
REL subs with Acoustat 1+1s?
@daveyf I apologize, my vocabulary is failing me more than usual today. As with pretty much everything, personal preference is the determining factor but generally most people find that when integrating a sub into a system, the system sounds, for ...
REL subs with Acoustat 1+1s?
Hi @daveyf What James633 is saying is that a REL does not have a high pass filter, it is only equipped with a low pass filter, where as the OP's current sub has both.
REL subs with Acoustat 1+1s?
I am a REL owner and for your application I would look into a JL Audio e110 or e112
Someone please talk me out of this
I would go with the speaker that has the better highs which I would suspect would be the Ref. 1s. With the 207/2s you are paying for what I believe is outdated technology and a good portion of the speaker that won't be used when paired with the su...
Band of an instrumental piece played in march 1971 on a FM station from Muncie, IN?

Janis Subwoofer Help
If you can get into the cabinet the driver should be fixable, especially if it actually is a JBL pro driver. Re-cone kits for JBL should be readily available. If Altec is still in business re-cone kits should be available for them also. Sounds lik...
The Absolute Sound vs Pleasing Sound
I am a tad confused. When I read about those that use an acoustic performance as their standard for measuring their system. When you are listening to the performance at a venue, are you not hearing the combination of the performer(s) and the venue...
Upgrading from Martin Logan ESL15a w/Force subs to Wilson Sasha Daw or Alexia 2 w/JL subs
In my opinion you are spending a lot of extra money pairing a floor standing speaker with subs. I would let your subs do the heavy lifting. You do not need a main speaker that cycles low when you are using subs. If you run your mains full range yo...
Glorious TuneTot ... ???
I bought a pair of these back in January of 2019 and have them paired with a 4 sub DBA in a 14' x 10' x 9' room. I don't remember all of the models of the other speakers that I compared them to, but they all were 2-way bookshelf speakers with the ...
