Different subwoofer settings for different albums?
So a dealer I know told me that he doesn’t use subwoofers and doesn’t know anyone who does (!) because he finds that every record has different levels of bass and would require a new subwoofer crossover point to properly blend with the main speake...
Mix and match subs?
Then the question becomes should I go with the x12 to get the extra extension, or a second x10 for easier integration as many of you have suggested?Depends on what kind of music you listen to and how loud. If your current X10 is loud enough on its...
Sopra 2 Bass
My second eyebrow has now joined my first, far north of my eyeballs hearing you have four subs. How did you know you needed more than two?A lot of guys are going the four sub route including myself. I started with one, then two and now four. Not t...
Sopra 2 Bass
Leaves me wondering what a clip sounds like vs something else...Im my experience when an amp clips you would hear that same pop of the driver hitting its excursion limits followed immediately by heavy distortion and lack of volume due to a blown d...
Rank the tweaks, geeks!
My list doesn't exactly follow the Op's list (my apologies, but then, I never have followed the rules) but the improvement I experienced when each was implemented was significant enough to warrant a mention. Most important tweak in my opinion, thou...
Sopra 2 Bass
Halfway through the track there was a quick pop from the right speaker. Once again I agree with James633, this most likely was an over excursion of the woofer due to boosting the low end and the over all volume you were using while playing the tra...

This world is insane! You have no ideaGreat advice from Eric and James633. Are you achieving satisfactory results when you use your tone controls? If you are I would stop and enjoy your system. You should not care what others think, it is your syst...
Questions never stop ever, it seems.
@classdstreamerI assumed that the line-level out from the sub was for daisy-chaining additional subs (for a DBA). Maybe this is sub-specific? This is correct. IME most powered subs do NOT have high pass capabilities. It is by far the exception tha...
Questions never stop ever, it seems.
That is exactly how I have my system currently configured. Preamp Outs to Subwoofer In and Subwoofer Outs to the amplifier itself. That engages the hi pass filter and gives me some control options on the subwoofer but are you also saying the syste...
Questions never stop ever, it seems.
With a powered sub you are actually running a bi-amped system, which in my opinion is better than bi-wiring. If your sub does have a high pass filter (IME most do not) I would do as you have already stated, connect the preamps outs to the sub and ...
Paradigm or JL subwoofer
Hi Bob,07-06-2021 8:40pm I am looking into a crossover for my subs as well I might be missing the idea of what you are trying to accomplish but, you seem to be confused about crossovers. You do not need a crossover for your subs. The crossover I b...
I’m also worried about how much of the harmonics in the music is LOST by the amp?
I'm not 100% certain but I think REW might be able to measure harmonics.
Paradigm or JL subwoofer
Hi Bob,If possible can you explain to me why the JL CR-1Crossover is critical. It costs $3000 which is a lot for my budget. The CR-1 crossover cost is based upon the audiophile grade components used in its construction. I'm not a home theatre guy b...
Paradigm or JL subwoofer
Hi Bob,The Fathom f112 has automatic room correction (D.A.R.O.) and comes with its own calibrated mic. A nice feature if you setting up your own system, especially if you are a novice with subs, but you mentioned that your dealer will be doing the...
Which subwoofer?
The REL t5x goes down to 32 hz and my Martin Logans go down to 34 hz. Will I notice the additional 2 hz of bass energy? The short answer is yes you should, but probably not for the reasons you are thinking. The reason you will notice more extensio...
