Most desirable vacuum tubes for SET amps ^^ At very low power levels the distortion of the amp is very low- hence that 'inner detail' you hear so much about. As the power increases distortion rises with it. If you are nearfield yous speakers may be efficient enough that you're not gettin...
Buzzing from speakers on TT rig @mofojo Sounds like the arm tube isn't properly grounded. Try running the wire from the chassis of the phono section to the arm tube itself.
Peachtree GaN 1 Beta Why continue raining on other's parade when you don't agree with their enthusiasm, or beliefs. It's rather confounding. @kitsap2 FWIW, the manufacturer of the amp did get on this thread and confirmed something that @kuribo caught quite a bit ...
Great YouTube on Class A-A/B VS Class D Can't image what might seperate an $800 amp fro a $4000 amp. 'If you don't know, now you know' -Trevor Howard Power supply, chassis, overall execution and where its built.
Burson OpAmps - Consensus? ?? Why not use something like the Texas Instruments OPA2205? I looked at the Burson website and specifications on the performance of the opamp are notably absent. FWIW, there is no such thing as an opamp designed specifically for audio. That isn'...
Vandersteen 2ci with tube amps Vandersteen 2, 2c and 2ci have all worked great with our tube amps which are OTLs, which tend to be load sensitive. So no worries using a tube amp as long as it has enough power, which in the average room seems to be about 60 Watts or so.
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V? 😁 funny thing about that...
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V? FALSE, I do not posted that: " you mentioned ". Yes, actually you did. ?? I'm ascribing this to an issue with your understanding how syntax in the English language works. Just so you know, your use of the colon in your quote suggested otherwis...
Four Hour Tube Amp Warm-Up @bolong +1; a weak tube can take a long time to warm up properly.
Buzzing from speakers on TT rig . If that does not do it I guess try and order a new “wire set”? Seems really strange something in the wiring would go bad or break when the unit is just sitting there @mofojo Again, try a putting a wire from the base of the arm to the phono pr...
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V? Only a few months ago after you posted in other thread your Tri advice: Mike Lavigne said not reallly good tonearm and I know he knew why but you don't still today. This statement is false. I have not mentioned Mike in any way. But now that you...
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V? I own a SME V on a SOTA Cosmos. @neonknight I ran a Cosmos for quite a while with the SME5. Mine was an early Cosmos (serial number 0, the production prototype which was done entirely in white). The Cosmos had an excellent platter pad at that t...
Buzzing from speakers on TT rig Still got the problem in a new location with a new Phono Pre and dedicated outlets. @mofojo This means whatever is wrong was moved with the rest of the equipment. I've serviced 1000s of turntables and preamps; the most likely thing here is as I...
Four Hour Tube Amp Warm-Up Just wondering if this holds with the experience of other tube ampers. @bolong No. It takes our amps about an hour. About 25 years ago our amps took about 3 hours but component improvements have changed that.
What Does It Take To Surpass A SME V? @neonknight I ran the SME5 for about 10 years. When I went to the Triplanar it was a revelation. So much easier to adjust! No issues with the arm tube resonating. Much easier to find cartridges that would track properly. I have a Transfiguratio... |
