Nearfield Upgrade? You might also look into the High Emotion Audio loudspeakers. We have been using their S-7 monitor for quite a while in the studio. High Emotion Audio patented a new kind of tweeter that is sort of a cross between a ribbon and a horn, but really i...
Best undiscovered speakers on the market today ? Two speakers that deserve merit are Audiokinesis and High Emotion Audio. The Audiokinesis perform well above their price points, are easy to drive, wide bandwidth and plainly outright musical.Another is the High Emotion Audio line. They have patent...
Oh how I wish Class D amps ... Unsound, I think he was talking about the input impedance, not the output impedance. I could be wrong, but that is the best I can make out of: you know how low ICE impedance runs. Solid state preamps have great trouble with this. But how could ther...
A Copernican View of the Turntable System Dgob, So how do you have things set up now? What is the arm tower sitting on?
A Copernican View of the Turntable System viscoelastic doesn't sound like something you want to use as a plinth, although if you do have a rigid plinth already such a material might be good for damping.
A Copernican View of the Turntable System 'viscoelastic platform'?? What's *that*?
Ground loop b/w amp and phono stage Ssayeed, did you cheat the AC ground on the Ayon Triton integrated? Sounds like the problem is there rather than with your phono sections!
Grounded grid, rouge Metis or Perseus You don't need the HT bypass. Really, its the same as a particular setting on your volume control, so all you have to do is set your volume to the right point and you are all set to go.
How can I fix this Phono Stage problem Some high end cables have some weird grounding setups. It could be that you have run afoul of one of these, wherein the way that the Canary is grounded is different enough that the cable is not compatible.A 10 ohm resistance is rather high though....
A Copernican View of the Turntable System Dgob, all elastomerics have a range of operation- a minimum loading and a maximum. Depending on where you get the elastomerics you can often get a datasheet that can be very helpful in this regard. However, I did increase the weight of the armtower...
Relate sensitivity/impedance to speaker efficiency Agreed!
need suggestions, pre+amp for MBL 111F/101e You will need a fairly robust amplifier that uses negative feedback. It can be tube or solid state. The speaker is not that hard to drive- 200 watts will do fine in most rooms. The use of feedback will cause the amplifier to be a little bright but...
What amp are you using with your Zu Essences? Charles1dad, What you say is true but about a different post- so in that we regard we are writing about two differnt things, but perhaps I take things much more literally than you. What should be pointed out here is that a speaker that is 6 ohms i...
Relate sensitivity/impedance to speaker efficiency Hi Al, I was involved in a rather ambitious speaker cable project about 25 years ago, wherein we used a time delay reflectometer to analyze a variety of cable geometries. What we found is that characteristic impedance does indeed play a role (not ...
Amp advice sought for Coincident Total Victory Palasr, the TV2 is benign enough that our smallest amp, the S-30, does quite well with it. Its been my experience though that you really want more power- 60 watts is plenty to really make them sing. |
