???Why The HUGE Discrepancy in Sensitivity Ratings???
With any panel speaker the measurement is done the same way as it is with a point source speaker. What happens is most of the sound made by the speaker is not picked up by the microphone. Examples of this are the Magnaplanars, Martin-Logans, and al...
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
The Theil-Small parameters is something that has changed! It makes predicting the performance of a driver in a box possible. Prior to these specs, sorting out the right size for a port opening in a box was experience and guesswork. This has lead t...
Synergistic Research Atmosphere Power Cords.
Would also seem to make sense that the wring in most homes must be well suited in this regard otherwise that would have to be the bottleneck and that mass produced wiring can't cost much in comparison to many audiophile products. So I gotta  wo...
tube monoblocks and preamp recommendations
Do you know the db and ohm for my 19s? The speaker is 8 ohms and 99-100 db. It has a few bumps in the bass region where the impedance is a bit higher- typical of a bass reflex. This is a very tube-friendly speaker!

The system will have to fill that space behind you. In a case like this I would go with more power rather than less.
I have an uber awesome amp, why buy a speaker with a built in woofer sub-woofer amp
I've yet to find an amplifier that plays bass as well as the amps I have. So I tend to prefer speakers that have deep bass response. The speakers I have at home go to 20 Hz and are easy to drive- 98 db, and my amps have full power to 2 Hz so I can...
I used to think passive preamps were superior to active preamps given right the setup, but
^^ the above statement is false if taken as a generalization. You may refer to my last two posts as to why.

We have a lot of horn customers. At 100db, its nice to have a little power behind the speaker, but in most rooms what that means is likely not going to be more than about 60 watts. For that matter, you'll do fine with only 30- and especially if yo...
Synergistic Research Atmosphere Power Cords.
Synergistic Research used to make a power cord that worked very well with our amps. We often recommended them. Sounds like they still do; they even got the name right :)
Do ClassDAudio Amps Have Proper Decay Of Notes?
While I've seen graphs that dramatize a digital waveform I honestly can't hear anything that would suggest a stair stepped waveform or "digital noise" from any of the switching amplifiers I've listened toJust so we are clear here, class D is no...
Balanced or single ended phono cable to Aesthetix Io?
I think the quality of the cable plays a role, though, even in balanced mode. What plays a much larger role in the sound of the cable is how its constructed (as opposed to quality), which is to say that if done correctly it will be a twisted pair ...
Do ClassDAudio Amps Have Proper Decay Of Notes?
The ClassDAudio goes out to 35khz, do you think this is far enough to avoid the ringing issues that switching amps have? Its generally agreed that you need more bandwidth than that. Even the AES which tends to be overly conservative recommends 2 o...
Balanced or single ended phono cable to Aesthetix Io?
Balanced (XLR) cables are significantly better where the cable is longer than 30+ feet. However, there is an opinion that the balanced circuitry that processes the balanced signal can vary greatly from one component to another so you can never ...
Direction of aftermarket fuses (only for believers!)
Ralph, how should I interpret this?>> ^^ Do you understand how power cords are wired? If you get it wrong, Bad Things happen! Interpret is as: Don't mess with rewiring power cords unless you understand local code and know what you are doing!...
Cartridge suggestion for Triplanar w/1:10/1:20 SUT
I don't know about the EMT but the other three cartridges will work fine!
