Tube preamp with or without phono stage? There is only one advantage of having a built-in phono and that is, it saves space, one less box. However if you are looking for the ultimate sound you will find a quality external phono head amp is the only way to go if you're serious about go...
Oh man, I broke my class D amp. Make fun of me. Then help. Are you sure your interconnect is OK? Have you swapped in a different interconnect to make sure you don't still have a problem?
Readers Digest Classical Collections should be reissued Many of the Readers Digest sets were pressed by RCA in their Indianapolis plant, and recorded by Kenneth Wilkinson who was a Decca engineer that recorded many of RCA's projects in Europe. As a result the sound on many of them is superbe.
Tube preamp with or without phono stage? I also feel cables and vibration control make a difference so take that into consideration. This is a pretty big argument for having the phono section built-in.
Amplifier For Compression Drivers In A Tri-Amp Setup...? You hardly need any power to make this happen! 15 watts is **plenty** of power!! If the drivers really are 112db, you can likely make do with an amp that only makes about a watt.A type 45 triode power tube makes about 0.75 watts operated single-en...
New Technics SL 1200 GAE Contact me via email. We've only done this with the Triplanar. Not sure how well it will work with other 12" arms! But IMO the Triplanar is one of the very best out there.
New Technics SL 1200 GAE Atmasphere, how do you compare your own Empire based direct drive turntable offering against the Technics 1200 GAE ?While over the years the model 2098 we've built has acquitted itself very nicely over 'tables costing a lot more, overall I think t...
Balanced v unbalanced input to Ayre preamps 600 ohms is still used, on account of the fact that there is still a lot of vintage professional gear in service, in fact many studios like to advertise that they have such (tube) equipment. So usually modern gear is designed to support that opera...
Preamp issue? ^^ What reubent said. Swapping the interconnect cables left for right is your first step, otherwise you don't know if its the preamp or the amps.
New Technics SL 1200 GAE May I inquire if you actually drilled into the top 10mil aluminum plate in order to mount that arm?One hole is drilled into the original plinth. The other two are on the armboard we fabricated.
New Technics SL 1200 GAE That's Super!!! I would be interested in the details! Especially the music. Kept wondering if you really accomplished it. I would think that this will impact All TTs.Can you give me hint at cost beside TT and Triplanar ???@nkonor take a look at ...
Balanced v unbalanced input to Ayre preamps ^^ Right!
Slight hum in my amp. Is this normal? I explained again that it was loudest when you first power it up then the hum diminishes after a few seconds but is still audible. He wants to keep power applied to it and observe.Another thing I just remembered and haven't mentioned, since the...
Balanced v unbalanced input to Ayre preamps Can someone explain why handling a 600 ohm load is a critical factor for making cables used in balanced lines sonically a non-issue? It's not related to CMRR then, right? These days 600 ohms is no longer the standard (although since transformers ...
Class D is just Dandy! Don't even need a working amplifier to try this, just hook up two tubes and have them switch back and forth as you suggest. Please post the pics of the results. By pics, I mean of the smoke. :) Class D was first proposed in the 1940s. The proble... |
