Are my standards too high? Folks, last time the OP did this, his entire thread was removed. That was a good thing. Since he is clearly trolling, all you have to do is report this activity to the moderators. The 'Report this' text appears at the bottom right of any post incl...
Replacing Amp Caps The manufacturers names I have seen and assume there will be minor SQ differences between them? Not really. The total value will have a larger effect, and even that will only be audible at higher power levels. Also, they use 10/32 threads so your o...
Vertical component placement? @unsound Yes.
Vertical component placement? Very possibly! Most heatsinks are aligned assuming a certain orientation, since heat rises. Heatsinks can be found an any kind of audio equipment as they are used with regulators as well as of course power transistors.
Automatic Room Correction has won the Subwoofer Wars I'm seeing the title of this thread as clickbait.Unless we are talking about DBAs vs oldschool, there are no 'subwoofer wars'.Now one thing I'm not seeing here so far but Duke did allude to it is the Total Room Energy which dominates the room soun...
Subwoofers down-firing or side-firing? Why? I favor a pair of front firing subs located adjacent to the main l/r to create and preserve stereo imaging. If the subs don't go above 80Hz they won't affect imaging at all. The harmonics of the bass instruments do the imaging, and they will be in ...
Why I enjoy my Luminous Audio passive unit, vs an additional gain stage ( preamp ) The Benchmark is an excellent amp.The thing driving the interconnect cable is where the difficulty lies in supporting the standard. Its pretty easy to do in an amplifier- you can do it with a differential input, which can be done with an opamp eas...
BEL 1001 MK5 driving Joseph Audio Pulsars But if you listen to music which doesn’t require that ability as much as do some other musics, you won’t miss it in a speaker which doesn’t provide it.I really don't know what music that would be! The human voice tends to show up in every genre ...
Your most indispensable "tweak"? What did it for me more than anything else was a proper equipment stand (Sound Anchors) custom built to accommodate my anti-vibration platforms with my preamp on top of one, and the turntable on top of the other. The stand is in turn seated on a s...
BEL 1001 MK5 driving Joseph Audio Pulsars i stand by my postsome speakers are definitely better suited to some genres (and usual implied volume levels) than others... in my experience knowing what music you mostly listen to helps tremendously in picking the right speakersThe volume lev...
SOTA preamps: Tortuga LDR3000T, microZOTL MZ3, or Kinki EX-P7? Our MP-3 ticks all the boxes too and is fully balanced. Usually I try to avoid mentioning our stuff, but in your case you need to drive 8K and there simply aren't that many preamps that can do that. But ours can on account of a direct-coupled low ...
Why I enjoy my Luminous Audio passive unit, vs an additional gain stage ( preamp ) As far as cables are concerned, and I am speaking of balanced cables as well, they all have different SQ characteristics, from each other, and from the various levels within the same brand. One of the reasons for balanced line is that it is a tec...
Why I enjoy my Luminous Audio passive unit, vs an additional gain stage ( preamp ) I hear no difference between my dac feeding the amp directly, vs the Luminous in the system ( although, I do hear the additional 1/2 meter Audio Research Litz interconnect, needed, with the passive ). Yes, this cable has a sound ( all cables, ...
Total bass suck out at 40hz who would have thought that it would be so absolutely awesome. I don't know why it works but it dang sure does.Actually the explanation for why is posted above. And also explains why the 4th will help too- but beyond that is a vastly diminishing r...
Potential Sound Quality From 1950’s Microgroove The Triplanar is one of the easiest tonearms to mount and runs circles around the SME IMO. Not cheap though, but its so easy on the vinyl! I paid way more for my records.... |
