Cartridge ISOLATION; What Say You?
another comment in the article: reviewer mentioned a layer of isolation under the tonearm base (he tried blu-tac). Also against my 'instinct'.Your instinct is correct. The arm must be as rigidly coupled to the plinth as possible, and the cartridg...
Anybody else waiting for GaN and Purify to have a baby?
I thought these eval boards were not optimized for audio? At least the first generation one.In any case, I doubt these boards possess the design magic and proprietary GaN's that AGD has.@art_boston They are meant to be for audio, but also to allow...
How long does Class A have?
It doesn’t really matter whether it’s science or propaganda; the non-believers will always find an exit-clause that aligns with their politics. ^^ This. As in audio, its almost impossible to be truly objective. Any climate scientists that disagr...
How long does Class A have?
""The List" - Scientists who Publicly Disagree with the Current Consensus on Climate Change - Electroverse"Pretty short list compared to the thousands who say otherwise! Apparently the electroverse site is not regarded as much more than a haven fo...
Calling out spatial audio m3 sapphire owners!
I've heard the Spatial do a really nice soundstage at shows. Apparently its also a fairly easy load to drive as well, since most of our customers using the Spatials are using our S-30 amplifier.
Anybody else waiting for GaN and Purify to have a baby?
Alberto PURPOSEFULLY used 400kHz in the first version because he noticed no improvement in sq beyond that. His amps were considered awesome with that frequency. The newer tubes now use 800kHz, purportedly offering increased resolution across th...
GaN Class-D feature packed amplifier from GaN USA themselves limited supply!!!
@georgehifi  So far as I can make out no-one is being a detractor. Just simply stating fact. Your original thread included a link to Amirm's review. He does not attack it either; instead as I have pointed out, substantiated the idea that its excel...

The "distortion signature" is just one of an infinite amount of things that effect the sound. It is true that phase shift can cause colorations. But beyond that almost anything else that results in an audible difference is likely due to how it aff...
GaN Class-D feature packed amplifier from GaN USA themselves limited supply!!!
Any buyer should be aware that since this board is meant for evaluation, it cannot sustain full power into 4 ohms since it has no heatsinks. For that reason its paired with a Switch Mode Power Supply that limits its 4 ohm power to 114 watts. There...

That depends on the distortion signature, which seems to be more important than **how much** distortion is present. If "designed properly" (IOW having a similar distortion signature) I would expect the same sound quality too. This is simply becaus...
Help me diagnose a terrible new noise from my tube amp!!!
Its only in one channel. So the parts are off the hook. I suspect a problem with the installation still.
Back To Static!
@mijostyn  I've used a carbon fiber dust brush that is tied to my grounded steel equipment stand via a wire riveted to the brush. I can't say how effective it really is but I don't get pops and noise from static. But it occurs to me that if I can g...
Subwoofer adjustment for each recording
Some recordings have a lot of bass. Sometimes when you go to clubs and hear music live, there's a lot of bass. Other times, other recordings, there isn't. I like to play the recording and have it sound like it was made.
Speakers for triode tube amps
If you are looking at using a triode tube amp, you might want to read this article- it will help you sort out what you are looking for:http://www.atma-sphere.com/en/resources-paradigms-in-amplifier-design.htmlFWIW most of the speakers mentioned on...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what?
So, it seems you have heard Bakoon. How would you describe them? Current drive?Speaking of tintinabulation, I get that fully with AGD. I was referring to the post above mine rather than the amp. Not many people use 'tintinabulation' these days :) ...
