Radio frequencies picked up by phono stage.
FWIW this could also be occurring at the output of the phono stage. I would at least try a different set of interconnects at the output of the phono section to see if that had any effect. RFI can be really pesky. A phono section that picks it up ...
Positioning full range electrostatic speakers
Because of the dipole nature of these speakers, or for any other reason, might this be an issue? None at all. Plus this allows you to run shorter speaker cables, which is a big deal when using tube amps with planar speakers of almost any kind.
Class A amplifier alternative?
Just FYI, I once tried class D but the sound is very clinical, thin and sterile in my system.  Class D amps are as variable as tube amps or regular solid state amps. I've heard some that are relaxed, smooth and detailed. I'd try some more before ...
Open Baffle. Why are they mostly limited to DIY?
I am struck how a lot of tracks now sound very different, with instruments seeming to disappear or are playing in a different room of the studio than the rest of the band. Example the harpiscord jangling in the left channel of Van Morrison's Cypr...
Anyone try using a 5751 in place of a 12AT7?
I bet he's set the circuit up to optimize it for the 5751 too.
Different Amplifiers Changing the Width of Soundstage
Do amp designers voice the phase shift?  You avoid phase shift either by having very wide bandwidth (in excess of 100KHz) or by having at least 35dB of feedback at 20KHz. The latter is very difficult to do BTW.
Component grounding
The hum goes away when I plug the amp into the second receptacle of the wall outlet, or when I use a cheater plug to connect it to the Shunyata. This is caused by something called a ’ground loop’. Its generally a sign that some part of the system ...
Different Amplifiers Changing the Width of Soundstage
Phase shift can also cause this issue. Along with the others mentioned (assuming the recording used for this is the same).

A pitch too High!
what do you mean by 'load' them? The link you gave me is way beyond what I can comprehend.@terrible  "loading" of a cartridge is where a resistance is placed in parallel with the output of the cartridge; IOW from the signal to ground. Many phono p...
Class A amps
If I did some mudslinging please provide an example. You might review your last sentence and consider what is really happening. Now regarding that crossover distortion thing, most solid state amps of traditional design are class AB. By 'most of the...
Class A amps
So no examples then. The simple fact is you can't find any, or I'm sure you would have presented them. Res ipsa loquitur
A pitch too High!
For the record, we use a Grado (wood body, low output) here at Atma-Sphere. I've run Grado cartridges many times off and on over the years. For test purposes when mastering LPs, I use a Grado Gold mounted to a Technics SL1200 to see if a regular c...
Class A amps
When a class-a/b amp leaves it’s biased level of class-a and enters class-B then there is cross over distortion. This statement is false. Crossover distortion is a phenomena that occurs at the zero crossing point of the waveform. There is distortio...
Tube dampener questions
Dampeners should not be applied to power tubes. They will reduce the tube's ability to get rid of heat, shortening the life of the tube. For small signal tubes like the 6SN7, 12Aseries and the like, dampers can be helpful. They do not detract from ...
