Has anyone heard the newest version of the Klispschhorm?
But what about the sharp, honking sound of the horns? @mglik  Huh?? I'm used to horns being relaxed and detailed like good ESLs! They can work quite nicely with good class D amps too 😉
New Analog Technology???
“An Ionic Original is the pinnacle of recorded sound. It is archival quality. It is future-proof. It is one of one. Not only is an Ionic Original the equivalent of a painting, it is a painting. It is lacquer painted onto an aluminum disc, with a ...
Tube swapping question...
@patswalker  The 6SN7 is plug and play, no worries, as is the 6X5. If you have the Sovtek 6N8S tubes in stalled (made in the Reflector plant) you may find that almost any 6SN7 made sounds better; its arguably the worst one around IMO.
Question about Cartridge Loading
If you have a LOMC cartridge, you'll find that loading has little effect on its audible bandwidth. However it can have an enourmous effect on the phono section being driven by the cartridge, if the phono section is sensitive to RFI being injected ...
Power regeneration - good idea? PS audio?
Do you think P20 will improve the sound of your bigger amps like MA2 or 3 on P20 regenerator? I ask because you specified that P20 works well with your "smaller" amps. It may well. Our OTLs are definitely affected by line voltage, although the ...
Replacement for Carver Crimson 275 to drive Maggi .7’s
Currently I’m using a Bob Carver Crimson 275 Tube Amp that sounds fantastic but hear I reach it’s ceiling while driving a set of Magnepan .7’s, so I’m considering swapping out the amp. I imagine 15 watts per channel might not be enough for any ...
Can a Amp be "timeless" and compete with todays amps?
If you are convinced that best amps can be measured, you most likely hit a goldmine of technical wisdom, although the term "smooth" might be not universal enough to define it. However, in my opinion, that is not even possible, especially because ...
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
atmasp, thank's but no. 🤣
Cartridge Loading for a phono pre amp
@rauliruegas What he is referring to is the constant velocity aspect of the cartridge, which is part of the RIAA curve. The faster the stylus moves, the more voltage it puts out. So the RIAA curve rolls off against this characteristic. In fact its...
Can a Amp be "timeless" and compete with todays amps?
C’mon folks, apply a little critical reading and thinking skills. Read and see what is clearly between the lines. While I had always admired Ralph and thanked him for his participation here (though disagreeing with his continued insistence that h...
Can a Amp be "timeless" and compete with todays amps?
No I meant in a much more simple fashion, i.e. a portion of the output is subtracted from the input. Literally negative. It would technically be out of phase but that is by definition.  Yes- we use a resistive divider network to do that in our ...
Can a Amp be "timeless" and compete with todays amps?
In addition to what you write, is not the negative in negative feedback, simple because it is subtracted? If I get your meaning, probably not. In most amplifiers the feedback is applied to a node that has non-linearities, so often feedback sign...
Can a Amp be "timeless" and compete with todays amps?
Let’s simplify negative feedback = taking something ( the AC audio signal aka music ) that has ALREADY happened, flip it around out of phase ( that’s the negative part ) and feed it back into the input where something new and unequal is happening...
Can a Amp be "timeless" and compete with todays amps?
so you are ditching everything you have espoused (if not self-promoted) on this forum for twenty years in order to go all-in to self-promote your new Class D amps. Wow. Did you see me promoting our class D amps here? I simply stated the underly...
Atma-Sphere M60 Matching DAC and Preamp
Have you heard a Topping D90SE? If not, you might consider it. When you get a phono preamp, you'll have to consider a line stage at that point. But if you are only using digital, any balanced DAC will have enough output.
