Do not use stock jumpers On my speakers, biwiring sounded extremely different tonally than jumpering low to high. Others noticed this too. However, it sounded very similar tonally to jumpering high to low, with the single wire sounding more focused, and the biwire seeming...
Do not use stock jumpers Hey Eldartford, no argument over my being nuts, but you really ought to experiment with jumpering high to low vs low to high. No question that it sounds very different, at least on the speakers I've tried. (It's how much we care about the differen...
Do not use stock jumpers OK, one more thing. I'm getting better results jumpering my Silverline Sonatina II's from high to low, rather than from low to high. This is the opposite of the results I got when jumpering my Spendor FL9's. Go figure.
Do not use stock jumpers The stock jumpers on my Silverline Sonatina II's looked superb. To look at them you would have tremendous confidence in their sound. Alas, the switch to Audience AU24 jumpers hosed that theory....
any integrated amps with seperate sub pre out? Cary SLI-80.
Warm sounding cables - non fatiguing I should have mentioned Audience AU24. It is awesome, IMHO. Make sure to use AU24 jumpers if your speakers are biwirable.Art
Your ''best kept secret'' speaker choice ? Gale 401c in teak, circa 1908. Or, was it 1980? Probably the latter.
Best affordable amp for Thiel CS3.6 The new Rowland monoblocks sound sensational with 2.4's, might be powerful enough for the 3.6's as well.
Best speaker cable and interconnect for Thiel 7.2? Cardas Golden Cross (for warmth) or Cardas Golden Reference (less warm a little more detailed than Golden Cross). Thiels have an affinity for Cardas that is amazing. Like Dan I've also heard Audience AU24 used to good effect.Art
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? We all drive BMW 3 or 5 series. It's the law.Art
Warm sounding cables - non fatiguing Analysis Plus Oval 9 in speaker cables. Probably the copper IC as well. Cardas Cross if you cannot afford Cardas Golden Cross.
Rel sub cables-Is it worth it to buy custom made Be careful: I think these cables are designed to have high impedence (or capacitance?) so as to not intefere with the amp communication with speakers. I ordered a shorter pair of cables from REL (or you could cut yours down) figuring that shorter ...
Do not use stock jumpers Twist my arm! Ok, Cary SLI-80 in triode mode with Svetlana EL'34's, Silverline Sonatina II, Cary 303/100 cdp, Basis 2001 / Rega RB300 modified / Van Den Hull Frog, EAR 834p chrome modified, assorted isolation devices, and a mix of Cardas Golden Re...
Feelings when listening Rel ST Series subwoofers To answer the question (sorry for delay) I have never heard any other REL sub other than the Strata III in my home. (BTW there is a Strata 5 coming out soon!).I was discussing my sub yesterday with the folks at REL and found myself making the foll...
Aethetix Calypso or CJ Prem 17LS2 I loved my CJ Premier 17LS until I heard the First Sound Deluxe.... |
