Review: Silverline Audio Sonata III Speaker
I recently tried the 4 ohm tap on my Cary SLI80 with my allegedly "8 ohm" Silverline Sonatina II's. Sure enough, it sounded substantially better to my ear set at 4 ohms than 8. A little deeper, richer, sweeter. Needs an extra bit of volume though ...
WAV vs. AIFF
How do file sizes differ WAV vs AIFF vs Apple Lossless vs FLAC?Does iPod play FLAC? iTunes?(I don't see where iTunes will rip cds into FLAC)Thanks,Art
Help My Rel has gone berserk
This does sound incorrect to me. I've been planning to use one of my REL's in the manner that you describe, so if this IS how they ALL work I'd like to know that ahead of time!Artps: What happens when you ONLY have high level connected - does it m...

There are a lot of bits and pieces of information for you to patch together. Wish you could try before buy.I used to own the 11a and then the 12's. Never owned xs versions. I currently own Cary SLI-80 and prefer triode mode over ultralinear. I als...
REL Strata III Setup - Help
One of the pages in the manual - which you can obtain online - gives step by step instructions. Get it and do it, carefully. It gives amazing results. After work I could write this out this evening from memory! I don't have the time at the start of...
Killing BluRay, new Oppo BR 83
Agreed on the new audio formats. I think the difference will be obvious on even a modest home theatre. I have Oppo bluray player - my third Oppo - and think the video is spectacular. I've always loved their upsampling on standard DVD and bluray is...
What about Cardas Cord?
Find out which model it is. The models have varying characteristics. I've tried Golden Cross and Golden Reference power cords and their sonic signatures were similar to their speaker cables in my experience, with a lighter touch. Cardas overall ha...

Killing BluRay, new Oppo BR 83
Bluray players are getting close in price to standard players, and Netflix charged just a couple bucks extra per month. Anyone with 40+ inch screen OR a high quality HT sound system would be crazy to NOT go to Bluray.Art
LSA 1 Signatures-- Anyone had a chance to listen?
LSA has a very natural sonic family sound. The Signature is their middle model if I recall correctly, with the Statement at the top (ribbon tweeter) and Standard at bottom. They do need proper break-in and then - in my experience - they are quite ...
Westone UM2 vs Westone UM1 + NuForce Icon
UM2. I've owned (or own) UM1, UM2, UM3x, W3 all from Westone. I happen to love the Westone sound. It is very natural with deep rich bass and natural mids and treble. Give them 40 hours break-in.See the reviews at www.earphonesolutions.com
NAD T585 vs Oppo 980H
Oppo 980h has a DSD option via HDMI.
Cambridge Audio 540d v.2 vs Oppo DV983h
Yeah, get the Oppo bluray unless your screen is well under 40". The new sound format is better, it's not just the screen. If you don't want bluray, then the Oppo 980H is a steal, even at full retail price.Art
Killing BluRay, new Oppo BR 83
It depends on size of screen and capability of audio system. DVD upsampling is remarkable these days - especially Oppo's. Nonetheless, BluRay disc has a pretty damn stunning sound. And I find Bluray via Oppo's new machine definitely stomps upsampl...
Wireless sound transmission to HT rears?
Postscript: I am using wireless Audioengine AW1 now for rears with M-Audio v40 powered speakers. I am satisfied with this for rears. Need to crank up the volume for some reason. Still plan to experiment with sub.
