Upgrading entry level system The only real gripe I have is the Denon has a fatal flaw when it comes to streaming and has to be reset or unplugged every couple weeks. Why not go for Node 2i streamer? Then when you upgrade the receiver you won’t be spending $$$ for streaming bu...
Favorite obsolete formats..... Whenever I think of 8 track I remember the rolls of tape used to splice them back together. But it was the first tape format to be in cars and I love driving with music playing. As far as tin can and string, that may be an upgrade in communication ...
How far over the limit can I go I can tell you that catastrophic tube failure can be quite expensive. It cost me $650 and the builder was generous with me because it was not that old. But I bought it used and thus no warranty. I also learned the pitfalls of buying an amp that h...
Dedicated line question Yes. If its on the same circuit as another item then it is not a dedicated line, is it? It's a shared line.
Do you have ways to ease use of vinyl? With contemporary equipment streaming can be as satisfying as vinyl at most levels. A bit more investment is needed than for the analog side. But the rewards are huge... library goes from the thousand or so to nearly infinite for the monthly cost ...
Dedicated AC line - Contractor wants to use BX instead of romex +1@ cissado.Licensed electricians are bound to the local codes. As far as cutting corners, the code takes care of that too. So that is just plainly wrong. I was in the business for 40+ yrs so I KNOW what I speak of.
RCA Interconnect. Dunning Kruger at its best. Calling on science to be the absolute final authority is scientism. It’s dumb to use objective measurements to measure anything as subjective as music and it’s perception by the individual.
How it started... How it's going Glad you have been updating your system and liking it.Fwiw, My system is listed. I don't have early pictures but you can read about it being updated over the 20 yrs I have been here.

This forum is antiquated. I’m reminded of the people on the HGTV house buying programs who are looking for a home in their budget. But when shown a 15-20 yr old house they say, "It’s Dated!!" Well DUH!! Look at new ones then. Its like telling someone that water is wet
This forum is antiquated. Most of the Goners here peaked in the 90’s Uh...,..no. I peaked in the '70's & 80's. Oh..........................Not THAT peak? Just forget it..Wasn't important anyway.
My most recent, long-term, go-to music... BTW, I saw Frampton Comes Alive concert is a small venue arena. Maybe 1500-2000 there. It was one of the best concerts I have seen and I have seen many. I was a big Humble Pie fan also back then.
My most recent, long-term, go-to music... Nice. Had to look them up. Just Ordered Vince. Thanks If you like the Vince Gill, You’d probably like "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Cut in 72 (I think) lots of old timers on it. good stuff.
Manual preamp volume control - Audible Illusions M3B CJ is well known for their preamps. Their top of the line GAT has a remote. I doubt them or any good Mfg would use remotes if they were inferior
Does a Tube Dac make sense? Why not? I have tube amp & preamp. Sounds great. |
