AVR owner's manual usually shows diagram of optimum positioning. They should be forward from the fronts.
Preamp out to AVR in?
Hey, thanks, Al. Good deal. Yes, you have the Levinson in your system. I don't have an AVR either but my sister does and now wants a turntable source. OK. I will use the tape out. Just have to find a preamp now. All of my old ones have bit the dus...
HK 3490 receiver with no sound?
You are right. I have them inserted horizontally which is left-to-left and right-to-right channels. I've put it through its paces a couple of times and powered it on and off and my instincts tell me that the amp is not faulty. He wants it back. So...
HK 3490 receiver with no sound?
OK. Thanks. That's basicly the opinion I gave him. But wanted confirmation.
Vintage HK protect mode?
Thanks. I might have added that I'm a little surprised by the sound quality. I like the new stuff and I bought it as a gift for someone who likes vintage. It's soft and full and quick. I can understand why the owners have no desire to upgrade. I w...
Vintage HK protect mode?
Getting back to you guys on the Citation 24 protect mode after getting it back from the tech today. Tech's note: Located and replaced 2 faulty capacitors in protection logic circuit. I think I found a good tech. He says, disassembled and cleaned p...
How Many Audiophiles Have Do You Know?
Well, yeah. "a unique pshycology" is euphemistic for being nuts on one level which is what people think I am. I guess we'd be wise not to take it to a more serious level. That might mean we really were.
How Many Audiophiles Have Do You Know?
I thought I was the only one who knew no audiophiles. I have said that I'm the only audiophile in SE MN. So that's why this website is so important. I wonder if we have a unique psychology.
Vintage HK protect mode?
OK. Thanks. I have a tech lined up who loves to work on vintage.I never thought of that--the click. Like a solenoid. The click can wear out. Cool. Thanks.
Vintage HK protect mode?
OK. I'm making a list. Thanks. I'll ask a dumb question just to illiminate it: The only info I've been able to glean from the net is that, while build construction was high quality on Citations 22 and 24, the bias settings were all over the map so...
Vintage HK protect mode?
OK. Thanks. I can't get back to you yet because I don't have the amp yet. It is being shipped. But this is very helpful.
Vintage HK protect mode?
Yes. The warmer the ambient temp, the longer the delay--up to one half hr.
Can I "double-wire" speakers?
I have biamped with unlike amps and with several different combinations. I did by chance hit one combo that sounded quite good with a slightly more powerful amp on the bass end. Too much power on the low end is---too much power on the low end--not...
4-ohm setting with 8 ohm speakers
I'm dyslexic and don't read a lot of tests, but the plain ol' resister doesn't sound good.
4-ohm setting with 8 ohm speakers
Magfan, looks interesting. Do you know any reviews in which it has been used?
