Square waves or 1's and 0's? My question was oversimplified and came out of ignorance. Your anwsers will give me all the reading I want tonight because I have to re-read. You guys are over my head but it's fun trying to understand it. You are a great source, better than anyth...
Square waves or 1's and 0's? Hi Al,Thanks for articulating the original question. Steve's paper is very helpful.I can do close to 8" but will have to measure to make sure. It will be interesting to experiment and very helpful to know that length is almost always a factor. Bes...
Square waves or 1's and 0's? Al and Agisthos are right. I was not asking the content of the message (signal). I was asking for a physical description of the signal. I thought I was asking in effect for someone to dispel a myth. Now I'm not sure of that because there seems to ...
Recs for Cheap Integrated Amp? Consider a 2-channel receiver instead of an integrated for lower cost. Some of the newer used or refurbished units probably sound better than some of the older integrateds that you could get for $200.
Entry-level speaker cables OK, Mtrot. Thanks. The entry level IC's aren't shabby.
Entry-level speaker cables What about intro Morrow? Anybody compared? I bought intro IC and now I get promo emails almost every day. Very irritating.
Legacy audio manufacturers Yes, I still have the AR18 bookshelf. I liked KLH too. Henry Kloss partnered with Vilchur at first. He made the cabinets. But then they couldn't get along and he went on his own.
Entry-level speaker cables Signalcable is another choice. www.signalcable.com. Don't disagree with any of the above. Audioquest is always a good value IMO. I'm using Anticable by Paul Speltz. www.paulspeltz.com. I really like it but not everyone does.
Square waves or 1's and 0's? Thanks, everybody. I've been reading on the net. Someone says the signal is 1's and 0's and the next person (critic) says square waves. You open the door so that I can understand the concepts. What started it is that I have an entry level (RCA)MIT...
Legacy audio manufacturers Teledyne bought AR from Edgar Vilchur, inventer of the acoustic suspension speaker, in the late 70's and introduced the AR9 vertical series. They introduced the 9LS in about '82 for the same price as the original 9 was introduced. Although it rece...

Review: Harman Kardon avr2650 Multichamp Al and company,The autoformers arrived 2 days ago, and in the meantime my brain started working again. I failed to mention that the speakers I wanted to use with the avr are 4 ohm speakers. So I used the 2x impedence ratio to turn them into 8 ohm ...
Review: Harman Kardon avr2650 Multichamp Al,Thank you so much. You made my year. I wondered if there would be a glitch in my David-Goliath hypothesis, and you have explained it to me. I did call Paul before I sent the check because I seemed to remember that there was a trial period, and ...
In what price range do I need to go for a Dac ? I've had Simaudio. It's not hard to beat IMO. I've got a MF V-DAC that does it for I don't know how much currently--$300?
hotel california... I wouldn't part with my dvd Hell Freezes Over--much better than the cd---which doesn't answer your question. |
