Modern Jazz (as in recent) Music Suggestions
Thanks, guys. Really appreciate the suggestions. For now, I'm trying to see which of the recommended artists are available on Tidal. Unfortunately, Jerome Sabbaugh, as well as Brad Mehdaul, are not there, so I might order the CD later. I did liste...
Can a apple airport express be part of a audiophile system?
mahler123, I'm currently using Apple TV which is probably even worse than AE due to sampling issues. I'm looking very closely at the Bluesound Node 2, so would really appreciate it if you can expand on exactly how the "Bluesound wipes the floor so...
Best budget DAC
edincleve, the point is that the P5 DAC will still be at par if not better than most $300 outboard DACs. The Burr-Brown PCM1798 is a decent one and Parasound is known for building quality products designed to last for a very very long time.I sold ...
Best speakers for Pink Floyd?
Best speakers for Pink Floyd? I don't think I'm comfortable making such an important decision for them

I2S, S/PDIF, Toslink connections
Interesting thread. I am currently connecting my Apple TV to my DAC (Cambridge Audio Azur 851 D) via toslink. I was advised that this was a better route than coax. I'm thinking of replacing the Apple TV with a Bluesound Node 2. Based on the opinio...

The link is only for premium. Anything for hifi?
Servers: Are we there yet?
No but I’m in the process of buying a Node. I’ve spent considerable time picking the brains of a very competent audio engineer who works at the Magnolia Design Center. He assures me that an Internet connection (via your ISP) is not required for th...
Servers: Are we there yet?
Ok so I guess you are using the terms Internet and home network interchangeably? I still stand by my assertion that you don't need the Internet to use the Vault or the Node unless you use spotify or tidal
Servers: Are we there yet?
I don't agree. The Vault has to be connected to the internet only to download album art for the locally stored files, or play music from cloud service providers such as Spotify or Tidal. Even if you're sharing files within your network, you don't ...
Servers: Are we there yet?
@oblgny  I'm in the market for a Node 2 (don't care about the Vault). Apart from the fact that you didn't like the idea of leaving your computer on all the time, did you have any other issues with the Node? How would you rate the SQ compared to st...
Good looking Towers for < $2000?
Which B&W's did you audition, if I may ask?
Best budget DAC
I don't understand. The OP says s/he already has a Parasound P5 which has a decent DAC. I doubt that most DACs around $300 will be any better than the one he already has in the P5. I had a P5 not too long ago and it's a terrific one at that price ...
Parasound P 5 DAC vs. CD players
adj101, your post is very timely as I was about to ask for suggestions regarding the next steps to improve my system. I've already settled on speakers, amp and preamp/DAC. I wasn't sure if I should first upgrade speaker cables, power cords or inte...
streamer for PWD DAC mkII - tired of a computer and complicated connectivity!
kijanki, a few comments ...1. When you say WiFi, I'm assuming you mean you're using Airplay. The problem is that Airplay doesn't support anything above 16/44.1. So if you want to stream hi-res, e.g. 24/96, I don't think that's an option with your ...
