Help! Choosing a Roon core/streamer/server! (Roon vs Innuos vs Wyred4Sound)
+1 tubertistI am using SmallGreenComputer sonicTransporter i5 as Roon core, and Sonore opticalRendu as Roon-ready streamer and network player. In my system, it was a significant jump in SQ going from BlueNode 2i to this setup.
DAC choices -- help me cross the line
I’ve put about 20 hours on the DAC so far, and I must say I’m not super impressed. Not only is it not performing better than my Cambridge Audio Azur 851D dac in any particular area, I feel that the soundstage has shrunk, the top end has become dul...
DAC choices -- help me cross the line
Update: After a long wait, I finally received the Tubadour III yesterday. I decided to go with the basic version but did ask Vlad to add an orange fuse. I will refrain from commenting on sound characteristics until I’ve accumulated at least 50 hou...
Help with DAC choice....
Linear Tube Audio does not offer any kind of return or trial period for MHDT products.
Streamer with no DAC?
Many DACs have USB. It's worth finding out if it's really missing or the OP just doesn't prefer USB ... which is totally understandable.
Streamer with no DAC?
You didn't say whether you need wifi or can work with ethernet. If you have a wired connection, look at Sonore microRendu.
Best route to go for new dac?
I bought a Topping D90 after reading glowing reviews and close to perfect measurements. Tried to live with it for almost 4-5 weeks, but it didn't connect with me emotionally. I sold it to a friend of mine who absolutely loves the DAC ... he has ha...
DAC choices -- help me cross the line
Folks, how did you guys order the Audio Mirror DAC? I don't see a shopping cart on the website. I have sent two emails (once via the website and one directly) to the company ... it's been three days and not even an acknowledgment. Not a good sign!...
DAC choices -- help me cross the line
@in_shore I actually considered the Innuos products, but my system in the study is 'relatively' modest .. I couldn't justify the streamer being the most expensive component in the chain. I ended up buying a Sonore opticalRendu which is amazing! Bu...
KEF LS50 Wireless -- wow!!!
@justjames72 -- I sold the CM10s shortly after I got the KEF LS50 wireless. I have never owned the passive version so cannot compare. But yes, at the time, and in the same room, the LS50W sounded better to my ears. The balance, clarity and imaging...
DAC choices -- help me cross the line
@pastorbob -- thank you so much for taking the time to reply. You summed up everything so very nicely. The qualities you mentioned are exactly what I am seeking in a DAC. It’s reaffirming to know that the AM Tubadour ticks all the boxes for me. Se...
DAC choices -- help me cross the line
Thanks for the advice. I know I can always count on the members here to hep me make the right decision. I feel that both AudioMirror and Border Patrol are excellent DACs in their own right, as is obvious from the posts. @pastorbob thanks for your ...
System- so many questions
Agree with all the points made in the posts above. The DAC in the Node 2i is the weak link in your system. So definitely start there. Having said that, the Node 2i even as a standalone streamer is still going to be the weak link. I recently replac...
Everything Matters With Digital
I would argue that with the relative affordability and advancements in computer-based measurement technology, manufacturing equipment that measures particularly well is not a black art anymore. Take Topping as an example, and no I'm not implying t...
