Beginning of a new journey... @oddiofyl Thanks for your response. As a matter of fact, based on your experience and a few others, I ended up buying the Quicksilver HP amp a few months ago. I will say it's one of the best audio purchases I've made in a long time. I'm just surpr...
Streamer Value Question Innous vs Bluesound @mgrif104 +1Well said, and completely agree with your point of view. In my case, just swapping the steamer and keeping the same DAC made a substantial improvement.
Where do you go after a BlueSound Node 2i? @mrklas -- I have to respectfully disagree. I replaced the Node 2i, which was feeding an external DAC, with Sonore opticalRendu feeding into the same DAC, and the difference in sound is quite substantial. I haven't done a blind test, but I have sw...
Implementing a Roon Core Server--Success & Comments Agreed. The price difference is not that much, might as well go with higher specs.@djones51 -- thanks for the tip regarding usb boot.Your help is much appreciated.
Implementing a Roon Core Server--Success & Comments Thanks for the DSP tip. Since I also use headphones (Hifiman Arya, Focal Clear, and Sennheiser HD6XX), I do have several DSP filters (parametric EQs) setup for each headphone. There is a Micro Center not too far from my house, so I will check it o...
Prima Lunacy? (SuperTubeClock) Apologies to the OP for digressing from the main topic but I want to share my opinion on the issue raised by @millercarbon. I also used to be of the opinion that we should buy a product that offers the best value regardless of the country of origi...
The Mhdt lab Balanced Pagoda DAC @teajay Thank you for the quick response. Much appreciated. Please forgive my ignorance, but in my case since I'm using Cronus Magnum 2 as my integrated amp, does it make sense to buy the balanced Pagoda?
Implementing a Roon Core Server--Success & Comments @djones52 -- thanks for the link. This is just what I was looking for. I almost pulled the trigger on Small Green Computer's sonicTrasporter i5 ($895). But if I can build my own Roon core at less than half the price, that is a winner in my eyes. G...
Implementing a Roon Core Server--Success & Comments @jbhiller I understand that Roon ROCK acts as a purpose built operating system, but do you need to pre-install another OS before installing ROCK, or can it work in a bare metal manner?Secondly, do you see any advantage in going with Core i5? I fee...
The Mhdt lab Balanced Pagoda DAC @teajay My apologies for not acknowledging your answers earlier. Somehow, I missed it completely. Just read them, thank you.So the dilemma I'm facing is choosing between the Orchid and Pagoda (unbalanced). On the one hand, the Pagoda can output hi...
Looking for recommendations For streamer only solution take a look at the various products offered by Sonore -- ultraRendu, opticalRendu or microRendu. I purchased the opticalRendu instead of a streamer+DAC combo not too long ago. The improvement in sound quality over the No...
Seeking advice on purchasing a new streamer @yyzsantabarbara Sure ... I bought it from SmallGreenComputer.com. The bundle costs $999.https://www.smallgreencomputer.com/collections/music-players/products/opticalrendu-for-roon?variant=31470485241925
The Mhdt lab Balanced Pagoda DAC @ozzy62 Thanks for your feedback. The difference between an Orchid and Pagoda is not much. I'm definitely leaning toward a Pagoda at this time. Do you mind sharing what modifications were made to your unit?
The Mhdt lab Balanced Pagoda DAC @ronrags While the Orchid can accept an input of 24/192, for analog output purposes its chip only uses the first 16 bits of a 24-bit file. If you want to output all 24 bits, you will have to move up to the Pagoda.
The Mhdt lab Balanced Pagoda DAC Since I cannot order an MHDT DAC to see if it has the right synergy with the rest of my system, all I can do is ask folks who have tried them. So the questions I have are ...1. Since my amplifier (Cronus Magnum) does not support balanced, is the b... |
