Which 30K Speakers Would You Give Up For Tekton Double Impacts?
My plan is to buy your $30k speakers when they have been rendered obsolete by Tekton. I figure a 95% markdown from the retail price is a fair bargain for obsolete junk. Before you throw away your obsolete speakers, please contact me. However, I wi...
Golden ear Technology reference
@stereo5  Then you must be laughing all the time. Because most people form their opinions by listening to audio equipment at dealer showrooms only. Very few of us have the luxury of auditioning at home, and that too a large floorstander.  BTW, at ...
Golden ear Technology reference
I have listened to them on two different occasions. Once at a hifi audio shop, and then once at a home theatre type dealer setup. I walked away pretty unimpressed on both occasions. I didn't find them engaging at all. The bass is good but they jus...
Speakers (and system) for a small-ish room
So a quick update on the P3s...Initially, I was not much impressed with the little Harbeths. Since then I bought new stands (based on @yogiboy ’s recommendation) and filled them with play sand. The stands gave me the flexibility to place the speak...
Speakers "Disappearing"
So such a phenomenon does exist. and all this time I blamed my wife.
Naim and Elac Adante, Wow
@crn3371  I briefly auditioned the passive LS50s (driven by Parasound A21), and while the imaging and soundstage were amazing, I also was missing the heft or body or whatever you want to call it. I returned the passives and bought the wireless ver...
speakers with balls
Are all speakers of a certain gender? Sorry, just having a hard time painting a mental picture of speakers with male organs. Are they usually open baffle type speakers, sealed or front ported? Pics would help greatly. Thanks.
Speakers (and system) for a small-ish room
Finally took the plunge and bought the Harbeth P3esr's along with the Naim Unitiqute today. Have been playing it for the last 2-3 hours. Right now, the stands are on order so they're sitting on a really small console which is not very sturdy. Only...
Speakers (and system) for a small-ish room
Alright, so the seller changed his mind again. I'm going to go pick them up on Saturday!! It's in cherry color for $1150. He is willing to throw in a Naim Unitiqute (v1) for an additional $600. Sounds very enticing! My only concern is if the Unitiq...
Speakers (and system) for a small-ish room
Well, looks like it was too good to be true. I made a deal with the seller to pick them up on Wednesday 3/14. Today I saw that he pulled the ad off of craigs list. Texted him to see what's going on. He's now claiming that he has had a change of he...
Speakers (and system) for a small-ish room
@schubert  I did some research on Totems and Silverline. Based on reviews, it seems that the Totems might be a bit forward sounding compared to the Harbeth. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I don't know how this would play out if I'm only s...
Speakers (and system) for a small-ish room
Thanks for the suggestions. I had not considered Vandersteen before, but the VLR surely looks promising. For some reason, I always thought that Vandersteens were better as floorstanders. The only problem is that I don't see any used ones for sale....
Speakers (and system) for a small-ish room
sorry i forgot to add that I'm looking for bookshelf speakers only.
KEF LS50 Wireless -- wow!!!
@daystar85 -- nice video. I have the same stands, except they're in white.
Naim and Elac Adante, Wow
I honestly don’t get the animosity toward Audiotroy. He is obviously very passionate about the brands he carries. Why shouldn’t he be? That’s his profession, and he takes it very seriously.I, for one, find his posts very illuminating, albeit a lit...
