Class D Amp For 'Stats?
"Switching amplifiers have an output filter and, this filter will interact to some degree with the load impedance."I have said this many times before, and I am glad that someone finally concurs.'Stats are not a purely capacitive load, although the...
Naim Theory on Cableing
No....the capacitance does not stabilise the amp. It is of a low enough value to keep the amp from oscillating.Inductance and capacitance in cables are inversely proportional to each other. Raise one, and the other goes down. Lower one, the other ...
Bi-Amping Possibility, which direction ?
Nice speakers........a customer has a set.Lots of dumb questions come to mind, like do you know the order, alignment, and, of course, crossover frequency of the speakers?? Simple passive balanced crossovers can be built. Emphasis on simple. Depend...
Why do you never near anything about Spectral
Not only that, but.........Has anyone ever looked closely at the "reference" systems these guys use? And how often they change? They run the gamut from dreck to last year's hot items. The point is that usually they use a mish-mash of gear that usual...
Nu force Reference 9 w/maggies?
That is correct. I have old MG-IIBs. I do have customers running that model.
New Digital Switching Amplifiers
I agree. I believe he is assuming that this genre of amps has not improved any in the last 20 years. It has.......I wouldn't waste my time with them if they hadn't.As for "conversion".........some types do. The PCM/PWM ones do. Mostly, they just mo...
Bob Crump passes away over holiday.
Well......'splains why I had not heard from him in a while. I always razzed him about living in Houston, as it was to neither of our likings. I escaped and lived to tell about it. Too bad Bob didn't.People always ask "Why are all your friends such...
New B&K Amp Blows Circuit
Sounds like a job for a variac, a line splitter, and an "amp clamp".
H20 impedance question
Now if I had said that, I would have been accused of not knowing anything about someone else's stuff. You can get the same info from ICEpower's site.
New Digital Switching Amplifiers
No. There is no correlation to the switching frequency and input signal. If you took x number of any brand of "self-oscillating" amps, put them along side, they would all be different. The ones that I use will vary between 480 kHz to 510 kHz or so...
Mono blocks-High current/low impedance...options?
I don't know what your problem is. We aren't even talking about the same entity. Your buddy Henry does not build amps using the ASP modules, and that is what I am talking about. Unless you are willing to compare apples to apples, I suggest that pe...
Mono blocks-High current/low impedance...options?
I am not crashing anyone's party. Neither you or Henry run this forum. If you can not accept the laws of physics, then just butt out. A lot of us are tired of your constant cheerleading. Maybe we ought to lodge a protest against you.
Mono blocks-High current/low impedance...options?
The "point" did not show up on my screen. I was sure you had a fairly low load. And yes, it is indicative of ALL of them.Mine, Henry's, Rowland's, PS Audio......you name it. You can't change the laws of physics.Face it: you can't measure it and I c...
Mono blocks-High current/low impedance...options?
I know....you're itching to get your hands on some of our stuff. Maybe when more of our loaners come back, we'll work something out.Irony is........you would think that an amp that can do 1 kW into 4 ohms, and can work into loads as low as 2 ohms,...
Bi-Amping
That sounds better. Any preamp should be able to drive 2 of those (or most anything) in parallel. As for specs.........Most are not to be taken seriously. Does not matter who wrote them, or for what gear. I'm sure you told us what they claim the sp...
