Replace tubes yearly? One can only marvel at the occasional nonsense spouted by the industry greats: small signal tubes especially but even the venerable 300b were designed for >20000 Hours of service. So even if you were stupid enough to keep them permanently power...
Neat "Tweaks" to improve the SQ of your streamed music!!! Just to add: I added the iSilencer between the wall outlet and the modem/router rather than on the router output. It requires RJ11 to RJ45 conversion and back but is well woth the effort.
Neat "Tweaks" to improve the SQ of your streamed music!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3xQjQhdGUw a good and fair review, The recommendation to use on the modem/router agrees with my own experience having tried modem, streamer and switch. In terms of value for money this is very high up there

Ethernet @mikhailark you need to read up on this: fiber does not suffer from the noise incursions I highlighted but from noise generated during ethernet to fibre conversion. The problem isn’t that packets get truncated or don’t get there at all; it’s tha...
Ethernet @mikhailark audio isn’t digital since analogue noise messes with the subsequent D/A signal conversion; i.e. RMI/EFI or ground level noise matter in audio, not digital.
Let's talk about Silver... @erik_squires methinks your argument is best summarized as: compensating one weakness by another doesn’t work and you end up chasing your tail. With that I agree wholeheartedly. good cables are short and well-shielded and that’s about all you ca...
Let's talk about Silver... …as did no lesser designers than Shindo and Kondo. That said it’s the design and its execution that matter most
Let's talk about Silver... In all likelihood the construction of the cable, the shielding, the soldering or crimping, litz or solid conductors, the chosen connectors and Sod‘s law on execution have far greater impact than the metal choice. In general I find solid conductors...

Tweaking Your Speaker Placement Has anybody seen recommendations for omnidirectional speakers? Supposedly different rules apply
Streamer apps critical @fastfreight There are two opposing philosophies on server software: Roon is heavy processing, CPU and I/O intensive, conversely providing ISP, extensive file maintenance and plug-ins. It needs powerful main chips, ideally separating server and ...
Where to Place Network Switch You should use your best ethernet cable between the switch and the streamer. And preferably that cable should be short. It’s all about preventing EMI/RTI ingress. Can you use the clock on the switch?
Streamer apps critical InnuOS Sense. Runs circles around any Roon setup in SQ without breaking a sweat. InnuOS also has Sean Jacobs power supplies, another best of kind.
What Speaker Cables Taught Me About Audiophiles It stands to reason that a speaker cable designed to accomodate power hungry, low efficiency 4ohms or below speakers will sound different from one designed for 16ohms 100db efficient horn speakers. Horses for courses as always. There is no generic... |
