Analogue clipping from digital sources
@ltmandella If I am not mistaken, you are referring to a problem resulting from ‘capping’ peaks during digital recording leading to distortion during the DA conversion, i.e. not clipping although it resembles audibly. This seems to be yet another ...
Analogue clipping from digital sources
@ltmandella : care to elaborate? Or point to relevant sources? Pls don’t make unsubstantiated assertions when posting. Thanks.
Analogue clipping from digital sources
In my read a good DAC analogue stage may only need an additional preamp where switching to analogue sources is required. Absent that the pre adds distortion. thank you to @atmasphere and @erik_squires for explaining an obviously important issue t...
Analogue clipping from digital sources
Here is @atmasphere on a different thread addressing my topic: “IMO Phillips and Sony made a stupid mistake when they set the Redbook spec to 2V output with digital gear, more than many amps need to overload. I think their reasoning must have bee...
Ipad pro + Ethymotic Er4 SR, brilliant
@soix  you must be using an older ipad. The ipad pro has usb-c rather than lightning adapters and your part doesn‘t fit.
Analogue clipping from digital sources
I am on InnuOS Sense feeding into the Antelope Zodiac Platinum DAC and believe I can only use the Sense imbedded attenuator. Any other suggestion? Many thanks for your help, much appreciated! BTW: this subject should find a wider audience.
Analogue clipping from digital sources
Thank you for this: I am using upsampling, clearly heard clipping like noise and the cure is to lower the output from the server. Learned something new!
Ipad pro + Ethymotic Er4 SR, brilliant
I am not using a dongle but just an adapter, no dac in there
Eliminated my preamp with amazing results
If I am not mistaken, the analogue section of a DAC amplifies the decoded signal to max preamp level so that there are only two aspects that would warrant a separate preamp: a better analogue design capable of improving on the necessarily compromi...
Another post about a streamer upgrade
@j_andrews  two big add-ons: use a Pinkfaun Isolator into the Pulse and insert a Singxer UIP1 Pro with a decent 6V LPS berween Pulse and Dac; you‘ll be pleasantly surprised.
Another post about a streamer upgrade
You are right on focussing on the user interface and InnuOS at your price point is the obvious choice
Eliminated my preamp with amazing results
The key determinant here is the quality of the analogue section of the DAC. Given its output, the only part needed is the attenuator of the pre if absent in the DAC. Often DAC attenuators operate in the digital domain thereby losing bits at lower ...
Pimping your router
@jerrybj have a look at Zoerax Cat8 on Aliexpress. I used Onti Cat8 originally and had to switch to it when Onti was discontinued. Great cables, both.
Pimping your router
@agisthos my general experience is that eliminating noise as close as possible to the source has substantial advantages to trying at later stages. Equally applies to improving your power: heavy work on junction and fuse box (e.g. Akiko Audio), s...
Pimping your router
Yet another update: while I originally used the Acoustic Revive RLT1 filter on my streamer and then Etherregen, I have now moved it to the Draytek Vigor 2860 router, i.e. right at the entry point of public ADSL. The resultant clean up of soundstag...
