SoundSmith Sassuro Paula and Manley Steelhead I own a sussuro paua and am using a rogue ares phono loaded at 2.5k and am really pleased with the results. The previous owner of the cartridge was using it loaded at 2.8k.
VPI Classic motor question I was in a similar situation as actusreus. I was having the swooshing noise with my 600rpm motor as well. I decided to go ahead and replace my motor. I made the switch to the 300rpm motor and large pulley. It has made a significant difference in l...
VPI Classic motor question I had a similar problem. I talked to mike at VPI and he instructed be to pull the shaft upward and slide the brass collar down as far as it could go. While holding the shaft up and the collar is down, tighten the set screw. This should eliminate a...
Good cartridge for the VPI Classic 1 turntable. I would like to recommend the soundsmith line of cartridges. They are well worth a look. I used a soundsmith Boheme on my classic with great results. Others have been very happy with the Zephyr which was designed for the JMW uni-pivots. Give them ...
VPI Scout setup after watching Frefmer's video That is a really good suggestion Brf. I need to do that myself actually......
I want to try a different tonearm on my classic thanks for the insight Sarcher. I will look into that.
I want to try a different tonearm on my classic thanks for the thoughts jmcgrogan and elizabeth. After some furthur research, I have decided it would be too much effort to modifiy my table to accept another arm. I might just continue to save my dollars for a new table at a later date.
Cartridge dilemma If your interested in a boheme, I have one I might list on the classifieds. It has been out of rotation for quite some time. I had it re-tipped from soundsmith and haven't played it much since. It used to be my primary cartridge and I enjoyed it v...
VPI Scout setup after watching Frefmer's video It seems there are many conflicting views on this. I set the cartridge tracking force and azimuth with the connector plugged in. This is the way it would be used when listening so, it makes no sense to do all of you cartridge setup with it unplugg...
Need advice on bi-amping I might step back a re-think this. Probably just save my pennies up for a better amp. Thanks for the adviceAndy
Need advice on bi-amping I wasn't sure if that would work the way I thought it would. I suppose I just need to step it up and purchase a nice stereo amp for my towers.
Sussurro Paua on JMW 10.5 arm - mini review I have found the metallica 45rpm series to be slightly better than the 33rpm 180g re-issues. On my system they seem to be more dynamic and detailed. I have the S&M on 45 and it sounds pretty good to my ear. Is it worth the money........... Tha...
Sussurro Paua on JMW 10.5 arm - mini review Another sibilance testI played Johnny cash - the golden unplugged album. This album is nothing but johnny cash and a guitar. There was no sibilance to speak of which, I thought for sure would show up if it was there. especially on this minimalist ...
Sussurro Paua on JMW 10.5 arm - mini review Van Morrison - MoondanceTrack 1, and it stoned me - Stereo seperation of the instruments is very good. Van's vocals are clear and with good prescence. When He delivers the line "and it stoned me" the S sounds like an S, not SHH.Track 2 - Vans voic...
Sussurro Paua on JMW 10.5 arm - mini review I do have moondance. Mine is a 180gr warner bros re-issue. It was mastered at acoustech from the original analog master tape. It is a great album. I will listen to the whole album and write notes as to what I am hearing. I will report back later.Andy |
