Do you pair travel as a pack just posting increasingly condescending remarks on various threads? I think the online world is getting more and more vicious and eventually won't be that much different from the real world.  It's unfortunate.  The ...

As I said a few posts above, I believe that one of the differences in sound signature of first-order filter is that high order filter, there is a faster change in phase, which results in excess overshoot and undershoot in time domain. And the reas...

I was playing around with a three-way mock-up. Basically I use a setup with what I already have. Making the cabinets would just take a lot of time. The tweeter is ScanSpeak AirCir, Seas Nextel 5.5in. as mid, and Scanspeak Illuminator 5.5 in as woo...
$27,500 for whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???
The thing was $65. So i don’t know what’s worse, a $27,500 paint job, or putting in a $65 mid in a six figure speaker, even worse, both! You can look at it both ways:1. The SB woofer is way underpriced.2. Or the Wilson is way overpriced. Or both ...

Which to Upgrade first? My Amplifier or Speakers
It’s hard to say it’s the speaker or the amp. One has to determine the bottleneck of one’s system. Everybody’s system is a bit different.Personally I am not a big fan of Maggies. I think they do well in certain aspects, but I don’t think they have...

Yes, it's all relative.  When I just graduated from college, the only thing I could afford was a $200 dollar receiver, and I looked at some pre-amp combo within $2.5K range and I thought those were "unobtainable".
First order/Time Phase-Coherent speakers discussions

Eichmann binding post caps broke again/ Suggestions on something better
I personally wouldn't spend a lot of binding posts.  Would they make that much difference in sound?

I've created a thread on DIYaudio website.  It's basically the same but it has a few extra stuffs.   https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/345669-exercise-converting-speaker-time-phase-coherent.html#post5984990

Have you heard Ryan Speakers based in Riverside CA? Try to catch an audition and post your impressions here. Similar to a Thiel without being a pure first order filter design. Thanks for the heads up.  But if they are too high-end, I won't be...

An old Russian saying is big house is on rutted foundation. Big house definitely makes for a nice listening space though.

On an aside note, this is why only first order is possible.  A high order filter even with all positive polarity won't be able to produce a proper step response. https://www.flickr.com/photos/185616271@N05/49107462151/in/album-72157711891600612/ ...

Phase Coherence is used in various ways by various people for various purposes. I understand.  I am personally got lost with all the different terminologies.  Very simple and very difficult! Being working on DIY, it usually takes me much more...

When it comes to first-order coherent and non-coherent, there has been some misundertanding with regard to the step response. For non coherent speakers, invariably, the polarity of the different drivers will be different, that is the tweeter may b...
