turntable speed control
The best belt would be a endless rubberized steel cable style belt like the old micro seikis. Quiet and they can't stretch. Micro did things right
turntable speed control
If the motor on the sds system is always turning the same speed the platter will not go faster because the bearing is warm. That's a load of hooey. And I think the affects of belt creep are also greatly exaggerated. You could always go to tape, si...
Linear Tracking Turntables - Best??
If the ET 2 is run properly  there is no slop in the bearing as far as in and out. Not with the usual forces that the cartridge puts on it.
Unipivot vs Linear Tracking
A linear tracker is theoretically perfect at tracking whereas with a pivoted arm that is impossible. That ends the whole debate. Whether or not one can hear the minute tracking errors is a whole different debate.  And it's tiresome reading all the...
Linear Tracking Turntables - Best??
Donc55 that's why the only ones I would use are the air bearing ones. Atmasphere the ET2 can be set with the bearing at the level of the LP.  The ET is also stupidly well priced for what it is.  SOTA for under 1K used.  I think it's because a lot ...

SDS is better as once you set a speed it is locked to that. Phoenix corrects speed so it would be constantly changing which could be audible.
Linear arm recommendations
I would only go air bearing. Another vote for ET.
Linear Tracking Turntables - Best??
I would only go air bearing. Love the ET 2, would also go mg1 or trans fi terminator. You don't have to spend a fortune and they don't require constant fussing . I think when people say that they are not very mechanically inclined.
Questionable service at Soundsmith
I got my delos back and one channel was not working.  I took a picture of it hooked up to the meter and Andy was saying I was hiding something in the pic, or I doctored the pic or something!!  The other had a collapsed suspension. Basically he ref...
Questionable service at Soundsmith
I just sent 2 cartridges to Andy because of the long wait at soundsmith. Both came back with defects. Worst of it was his attitude in the whole mess. Next time I will definitely use soundsmith.
RCA Classic Records-180 versus 200 gram
I heard that pretty much all of the 180gr classic records are good but the 200gr had some quality control issues. There are definitely good 200s out there but it is more of a crap shoot. I wouldn't bother with originals unless I could examine them...
LAST record preservative improves the sound
What are some of the bad myths that have been spread about LAST?
All the Roadrunning by Mark Knopfler and Emmy Lou
I thought it was good but not great. As a huge  knopfler fan I'm glad I have it.
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
Anybody directly compare the ART7 to the 9?  I have a Herron 2 as well (best phono I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot!) will it be okay with the 7?  I do have a 1:30 SUT too if the Herron won't do it.
Tonearm recommendation
Hi rauli compared it against a vpi 12, micro seiki ma 505, sme3. More importantly when I first got it I did experience a lack of bass. Then I learned how to set it up and it produced at least the equivalent with a better soundstage and detail.
