Wavac LCR-X2...is it worth $10k ?
Buy a herron and be done.  I'd wager it will sound better than the wavac and at less than half the cost.  No phono is worth 10k.......
VPI TNT Turntables
I think the ETs aren't more popular because people are afraid of them.  Although they shouldn't be, while very different the set up is actually much easier than with a pivoted arm once you figure it out.

Phoenix just to clear the air Im not against you or your product either. I have not heard it yet.  I think it looks like a well-made fairly priced product.  But I am leery given the premise of the whole thing. To me it's theoretically better to ho...
David Berning preamp..looking for suggestions
I do have great respect for David Berning however and think you would probably also be happy if you went that route.  Sorry for going off on a tangent.

I have not heard the one you mentioned but I have Tannoy prestige speakers and recently went to a Bottlehead Beepre. With the optional attenuator, upgraded tubes and some vibration dampening it is the best I have ever heard.  After that experience...

If consistent motor speed doesn't equate to consistent platter speed how can inconsistent motor speed equate to consistent platter speed??Why would the motor speed on your unit be inconsistent????wait for itwait for itoh because the platter speed ...

Fwiw I would rather have continuos speed than ever changing speed. But we've gotten into this before. The ear will detect changes much more easily than a controller that is slightly off but the same all the time.

I assume your of the Phoenix speed controller fame due to your feedback comment?

You've chosen a great combo, I have a TNT with two ET 2s on it. The one upgrade I would not do without is the flywheel, whether you have one or two motors. Another important one is the speed controller and then the platter which there is lots of d...
Preamplifier for Threshold 400A
I went to a bottlehead Beepre and it is the best sound I have ever heard at any price. Not sure if you can add the balanced or not but I don't really see why that would be important unless you need to run 40' interconnects.
is there a market?
Dan you are missing the point.  Some folks, myself included, do not want it in digital. We want ALL analog. Apparently you don't agree but we believe that it is more realistic that way. There is always something lost in the A to D conversion. Ther...
vpi tnt still a performer?
A ribbed platter is VPI. I have a 3 and it has that. It is a very good platter. The 3 should have the air bladder feet and they work good but need to be releveled once a month. A 2 minute job. A very good table, I would not sell it to get a classic.
Any other Sophia Amplifier Experiences???
So just an update on my Sophia 845 amplifiers.  After I blew another one of Sophia's crappy transformers my friend convinced me to replace them with equivalents from Hammond. So I bought 4 transformers from Hammond (2 high voltage and 2 low voltag...

Did you guys read Bo's post on the maxiimus??!!  If this thread wasn't ridiculous enough that takes it to a whole new level. And I can just hear the believers already "if you haven't heard it you don't have an opinion". Well I don't have to hit my...
