The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
I could somewhat agree with this kind of markup if The Store would have a demo on hand for you to hear.
The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
@cleeds  in my experience that is simply not true. I have a few friends who are dealers and The Profit is usually around closer to 40%  And often times all they do is put in an order and give you the merchandise when it comes in.
The nightmare of the cartridge buyer...
Like you  I needed to replace a Lyra Delo‘s a while back. Like you I was totally fed up with the scenario and refused to pay those crazy crazy prices. I ended up buying a van den hul colibri from a gentleman in the Netherlands brand new at less t...
Horns: Why don't they image well?
I have owned apogee divas in the past which were pretty much one of the best imaging speakers I’ve ever heard. Now I own a 604E based system with Fostex tweeters on top and DIY dual subs on the bottom. True full range. They image just as good as ...
SET v. Pushpull
One thing I would point out is that some of the distortion from push pull comes from the crossover region which can be more objectionable to your ear. SET distortion is mostly even ordered and usually is perceived as pleasant. But you do want to ...
A trend I've noticed in ads.
But when I get stuff from the manufacture I always open the box and verify that it’s there/correct. Such as I just ordered a pair of high frequency diaphragms for a pair of speakers that I have. When I got them I opened the box to verify that they...
How much to spend on phono preamp
Buy a herron. Last phono you will ever need.
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
It just bothers some people to see nonsensical claims put forth as if they are gospel. And other people like Geoffkait just like to troll and stir things up. I think it’s settled. Profs explanations and points are very rational and make a ton of ...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
Prof  those were some very well thought out and rational posts. While you may not change the ones here entrenched in their viewpoints you may affect  others browsing through now and later.
The 70’s are back
There is a lot of miss lead folks on this site who think vintage cannot compete. They couldn't be any more wrong. I found often times vintage exceeds the performance of new,  with some minor refurbishing.  I think it's their way of trying to justi...
First Watt J2
Why not buy an actual tube OTL like an atmosphere???
Bobs Device SKY 20 or A23 (Denon) SUT for my Charisma 103 cart
I'm  sure works fine and it would depend on your gain structure but in my system I found the higher gain to work a little better and offer some extra dynamics
Bobs Device SKY 20 or A23 (Denon) SUT for my Charisma 103 cart
Parks audio. Same as bobs devices(cinemag) but literally one third the price. And for the 103 I would think you would need 1:15 or 1:20
Serious Passive Preamp question
+1 atmosphere.
Solid State vs. Tubes - What if Transistors came first?
I owned a lot of amplifiers with krell being among them. I started out with solid state but once I found SET I changed my thinking entirely.   Lower powered triode tube is definitely my preference with much better Soundstaging and imaging then I'...
