Determining compatibility with amps
@ghdprentice Thanks.  So it turns out I'm valuing more involving, connection to the music whereas I probably went into this current venture (2016) thinking that total accuracy and slam were the hallmarks of a really "good" system.  The staging esp...
True high-end Speakers need a midrange
OP,  can you describe or define what "high output" is in this context?  Assuming it's an SPL value.
Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
A question as it pertains to analog EQ like Loki(s).  Is any (if any) phase shifting at the band used an on/off effect with a setting other than zero, or is phase change relative to the level used?  Also, if EQ is operating on the whole input (not...
DAC USB Hum
Sorry everyone, but I got my 2 inputs wrong at the amp.  It's the Zen/USB that quiets down when the DAC hits warmup.  The CDP/RCA is the one that doesn't change after warmup.  So perhaps someone can explain why warmup on the DAC silences the small...
DAC USB Hum
@cetla416 , I have the same streamer and Orchid DAC pair (super happy and impressed).  Connection is of course USB via a Supra USB cable.  For comparison I also have a CDP and phono pre-amp out  connected via the RCA inputs.  For this test all uni...
Power Cables - Third Party or OEM
@erik_squires I'm getting more into DIY  now as I'm retired.  Do you have a site I can reference that outlines a decent quality build/how-to?  Thanks in advance.
Equalizer in a Hi Fi system
I use 2 lokius, one each channel for asymmetrical needs.  They have full bypass switch.  Even engaged I cannot "hear" them.  One poster here recently chose Lokius over Loki max based on what he heard.  YMMV.  Having independent L/R is really nice ...
Results of Actual Hearing Test and Next Steps
@mbmi that's exactly what I did since left and right ears differ in frequency/overall  response.  Curious as to why you also have 2.  The OP using Treble controls while likely not exactly centered at his needed points is likely getting 90% of the ...
Results of Actual Hearing Test and Next Steps
I've posted on this before as I am in similar position.   If audiologist told you that it's all fine in frequency  but simply lowered, for music you'd simply use the volume control.  If you found you had loss in the left, you'd could just use the ...
Help settle a streaming argument!
I sense alot of folks hold that in digital (sources),  a file is a file.  That 1s and 0s dont get scrambled no matter the price-point yet will agree that a LPS can make a difference.  Does an inferior PS flip bits or is the decoding software faili...
Somewhat of an oxymoron - speaker stands for the floor for bookshelf speakers.
OP, while you're at it, get a cheap laser measuring device.  Afyer a good height is found, get the distance from the speakers to your position exactly the same.  Use the laser along their sides to help point them the same, and vary toe-in until yo...
Difference between polarity and phase w/sub
I had the same questions about phase control on a sub.  Most have them.  With the vast majority this is best put as phase "at 80 hz".  It's implementation is a simple time delay, milliseconds.  For example, 180 degrees reversal is really an "equiv...
ADD-POWR POWR BAR
Might compare to Cullen  Power Box product.  Gold Series uses 3 Pass Seymour plugs (6 outlet) also with 4 ft Gold Series OFC copper power cord, $239.  I special ordered one with no cord, but with connector to use my owm PC, in powder coat black.  ...
Vinyl record storage in Harvey's office, Suits TV show
I'll bet Donna knows, Lol.  She knows everything.   And she's pretty hot.  I did notice he was into vinyl tho.
Redundant Internet
Not sure how much bandwidth you need but as @jond mentioned, mobile phone Hotspots are great. Guessing if your needs are work or serious enterprise level service, that wont do. Not considering Starlink?  I've no idea what the Tmobile solution is/c...
