The molecular level explanation of "cable burn-in" Reminds me of a co-worker who would write such equations to describe various other coworkers' personalities and quirks. Was quite funny actually. Yes, they were aware of it.
For the love of...kits? @hilde45 as an owner of a "kit" Speaker I cannot be more happy. Sure, I punted and had cabs built by Lee Taylor but they sound sublime for a 2W stand set up. Based on Scanspeak and top XO components. NADA kit from Madisound. Worth twice what I...
Microphonics, Feedback and Bob Carver @erik_squires you said recently "welcome to AG where you get what you pay for and a whole lot less". I thought that was brilliant (comeback) but I'd say this is far from worth-less. And like the prior, I'm barely hanging on past, the speaker ac...
The $10,000 Question OP, OK I'll mention Raven. Love mine and 20 wpc in my midsized room seems plenty. 2w stand speakers at about 87db. Your room is15x15 and not sure of your next speaker's efficiency it might be a tad low on power. Raven does have 80hz hi-pass ...
Signal tube versus power tube, sound impact? My experience is like @ghasley. Small tubes in pre stages made way more noticeable change than output. Using NOS recommendations from both maker (Raven) and Brent Jesse I chose military and or scientific grade pre tubes. Stage expanded and bass...
Comparing streamer/DACs between $5-10k Innuos and their Sense app seem pretty straightforward and simple to use. But not much for meta-data on artists etc. Lineup spans price points and tech. Zen(ith) line rips/storage, Pulse do not. Most require DAC.
Bananas rule, spades drool. End of discussion. OP, I could have sworn a couple years ago or so you asked AG members for a good clamp/no solder spade recommendation. Change of heart or bad experience?
Cable Break In for the Naysayers It's a broad general statement that declares that "i know that there's nothing I don't know". That's my only point. It's an over-reach imho. Im not at all saying that we can't measure countless things with instruments better than we can ourse...
Cable Break In for the Naysayers Without any implied agreement or disagreement with the OP, the idea that "if it can't be measured it can't be real" (to paraphrase) cannot in any way be a valid position. (Not that above poster necessarily agrees with it either, while many do). S...
Newer Blues Artists or Recordings Kingfish, good entry. Not new but new to me this last year or two is Tab Benoit. Mix of southern Delta /Zydeco blues guitar/vocal. Some great Telarc recordings too once he hit his stride.
All speakers have a little EQ built in @audiokinesis can you expand on how low, or how much of the phase curve that's low inductance, at low impedance is acceptable for most tube gear? I don't want to hijack the thread but isn't this the crux of amp/speaker "synergy" save perhaps effi...
Upgraded my cables and they transformed my system!!! @vthokie83 any particular designs you'll be making you can share? Built my own RCA and speaker cables so im curious what length others go to.
surprising comparison of tube preamps @atmasphere I'm reading with keen interest and hoping to learn. So is your point leading to any reason to believe that integrated units have an advantage? Any, or would they need to be fully balanced from input to output? I'll just sit back an...
Floor to Bookshelf Oh, search hifishark and it'll return results for many sites at once. See my system for example of NADAs.
Floor to Bookshelf I'm a strong advocate of published or open souced DIY speakers. Several out there have a great following. I own the NADA "stand" 2-ways made with Scanspeak's best drivers, XOs in furniture grade cabinets. Name recognition brands would cost man... |
