Which phonostage should I choose (or would you choose)?
@millercarbonThe Herron has traded over 50 times in the US used marketplace since 2017 (source: hifishark). Maybe one day I’ll pick one up on the cheap to compare. Thx

Which phonostage should I choose (or would you choose)?
I’m listening through the new Duo LPS right now ( an hour before the debacle, I mean debate). Incredible imaging best I’ve heard so far. Dynamic, total separation, gravitase or weight some would call holographic. Looking forward to the Zesto Andro...
Which phonostage should I choose (or would you choose)?
@mattmillerThx Matt.  Wasn't the question but I totally appreciate the sole response lol.  I looked at the Manley but some feedback I heard was that it was noisey.
Phonostage recommendations under $3K
The Herron vp2h-2a has traded over 70 times in the US used market since 2017 (source: hifi shark), some of those are duplicate postings though, but suffice to say there is a TON of secondary market activity on this unit and avg price is ballpark $...
All New Magico A5 Loudspeakers // Biggest "BANG" For Your BUCK On The Market ?!
@easy_hFeels like a dislike of bryston. I owned their 6B-SST powering some pretty crazy Triad In-room Platinum speakers in my home theater and I hated the bryston sound. Finally landed on classe and never looked back for years until I moved.
Who's using Harbeth with tubes, what speaker model and how many watts per channel?
@atmasphere Does the zero add-on to an OTL amp basically then function as a Berning type ZOTL amp which provides that properly impedance-matched tube output stage to the loudspeaker?

@easy_hIsn't that 1200 watts into 4 ohms or am I mixing up models?
Who's using Harbeth with tubes, what speaker model and how many watts per channel?
@pdreher Yeah sorry I had someone read part of it to me but most importantly the red line is the frequency response measured in axis, green is 10 degrees above, and blue is 30 degrees to the side (lateral).
Devore Fidelity Orangutan O/96
@keithr Before I demoed the O/96 this past July, I spoke to Mr. Devore about the timing of any future upgrade since the same model has been out there for over a decade and I didn't want to get burned. He told me, yes there is a 2nd gen in the work...
Who's using Harbeth with tubes, what speaker model and how many watts per channel?
The impedance curve for the 40.2 below. Impedance appears to be ABOVE 8 OHMS ALMOST EVERYWHERE, except for a slight dip below that value in the vicinity of 100Hz.  So some unscrupulous manufacturers would claim the 40.2, 40.2A, and now the 40.3 ar...
Who's using Harbeth with tubes, what speaker model and how many watts per channel?
Thx @twoleftears. This isn’t the first thread on this controversial question so do a search for my info. I have the 40.2 Annies and I’m using Linear Tube Audio’s Zotl40 Reference amps monoblocked which is approx 90 wpc in 8 ohms. The tubes in each...
Devore Fidelity Orangutan O/96
@arafiq Yes yes yes. I looked up the 40.2 impedance curve and it dipped below 8 ohms at 90hz to 6 ohms but other than that it stayed above 10 for most of the curve and even hitting 12!!. A 12 ohm speaker lol. Super easy to drive. That’s why I went...
What tube amp for Harbeth 40.1
The Harbeth 40.2, the Annie, and 40.3XD have slightly higher sensitivity than the 40.1, 86db vs. 84db, but those newer models have a much higher impedance curve. The curve on the 40.2 stays above 8 ohms throughout almost the entire frequency range...
Devore Fidelity Orangutan O/96
@arafiq Wow.  Right on point with me. That's rare. Anyway, glad you liked the Olympica. Now that we clearly have the same musical ear and listening preference, see if you can demo the Harbeth 40.3 XD.  Prepare for happy tears!
