Timbernation Platform Problems
You are right, my bad. I had the semi gloss finish done, not full gloss. Its just right IMO.
Update on good Ethernet switch
LHY now has the SW-6. Despite the lower product numbering this sits between the SW-8 and SW-10 and I believe it will even be superior to the later because its not repurposing cheap commercial switch hardware - it's a custom board design. To my kn...
WiFi Streaming Versus An Ethernet Cable Connection
If you have standard network gear there is usually no difference between Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If you have decent audiophile network hardware, low noise LPS e.t.c then ethernet pulls ahead and can be noticeably better. I think the whole jitter/recl...
Timbernation Platform Problems
My entire rack system is 2" thick Timbernation maple platforms. Done in a beautiful matt gloss finish.  But I always wondered if birch ply would sound better?
Anyone tired a Nordost QB4 MK III?
Reporting back.... the mk3 bass is much better and more defined, and the soundstage has opened up. The differences between the mk2 and mk3 are subtle, but IMO worth the money. I now have the mk2 for sale. I will also try out the new WAVE and SINE...
DAC Merry Go 'Round- why I stopped at Weiss
Instead of using Roon try the new JPlay app for iOS. It just sounds better than any other UPnP app. It can play your local NAS content or all the streaming subscription stuff like Tidal/Qobuzz e.t.c
Wall outlets
Great info thanks for sharing. Wall outlet comparisons are the most difficult thing to do in this hobby so this info is appreciated. Looks like I will try that R1 - it may strike a balance between the gold and rhodium.
Cable elevators
I like Audioquests new fog lifters, as they are unobtrusive. I just wish the plastic was clear, not black. Audioquest claims their testing showed lifters need to be minimum 15cm high to be effective. Note that almost all lifters audiophiles use a...
Network Acoustics Muon ethernet filtering system - Improving streaming sound quality
I hate to rain on Network Acoustics parade but they do have a competitor if you are willing to go to 5k price, the Waversa LAN EXT Reference.
Wall outlets
@vthokie83 I too like the GTX-D gold version over the rhodium. Don’t like R plating. I just wish Furutech did a NCF version in the gold plating. VHAudio sell the Oyaide R1 and I have considered getting it. What’s your experience with it? Did you ...
Telos Mini Quantum Resonator (MQR) & Puron Filter together
@ozzy I have a half dozen of these types of devices and the Telos is on my to do list. But I doubt there is many of us who can get 10 purons and multiple Telos. Perhaps pull them all out and do a head to head, 1x Telos v Puron? This would give a ...
Anyone tired a Nordost QB4 MK III?
@cleeds He worked for Nordost for 3 years 2009-2011, after which he went back to audio journalism. It’s (par for the course) dishonesty to misinform people here by saying he works for Nordost. Is it possible to work in the industry for a time (12 ...
Anyone tired a Nordost QB4 MK III?
One thing I will mention, according to Roy Gregory, who has reviewed many Nordost QRT products (for decades literally) in the UK, the QB8 performs better than the QB4.  You think they would be identical except for outlet number, but that’s what t...
Anyone tired a Nordost QB4 MK III?
OK I have a mk3 incoming and will test directly against the mk2. Apparent changes are; the internal PCB's are redesigned, with the ground plane now on its own dedicated PCB with more of a focus on ground sink tech. And the internal wiring is now...
what amplification are you running with your Dynaudio Heritage Specials?
My friend is running a Hegel H390 and it seems a perfect match for them (in that 5k price range). He got the idea from other owners of the Heritage also using this combination.
