fuses - the $39 ones or the 85 cent ones
Count me in the group of fools (believers). I heard a difference with both the Isoclean and Hi-Fi Tuning fuses, and each sounded markedly different than the other. I liked the Hi-Fi tuning fuse better.
The best mini monitors you have heard?
What Musicfile said. But before I owned them, I auditioned no less than 3 dozen monitors, with no biases and an open mind. Nothing even came close to the Sason, regardless of price.Honorable mention at a budget price point is the Tyler Taylo Refer...
Review: LessLoss Dynamic Filtering Power Cable Power cord
Esharp,Nice review. Great photos, too. The guitar photo with your son reminds me of playing a "broomstick guitar" when I was about his age! Some of these small startup companies produce fantastic products at a great price. I've not had the pleasure...
Best Value Speaker Model for the Buck?
The Taylor Acoustics monitors are all fantastic values at their price points, and if you can find a pair used here or on audiocircle it's downright theft. The nOrh speakers are wonderful, especially with tube electonics pushing them. The two top of...
Pranawire Deva vs. Kubala-Sosna Emotion
Does the prana wire present a more forward presentation than the K-S? Does either cable do a better job of conveying subtle details in the recording than the other?
Need cdp power cord recommendations.
I just bought, and am breaking in, a DCCA "The Source" power cord for my CDP based on many recommendations on here. I'll post thoughts for you next week, after I've spent some time with the cord.
combining different cables
I've tried using the same interconnects and speaker cables from several manufacturers, and have had the same result with all except one: too much of a good thing. All cables inject some chararcter (or "color") on the sound. I find that if I insert...
What song best describes you or your life?
Don't know about best song, but the line "I wish the real world would just stop hasslin' me" immediately comes to mind.
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone
Haven't been on in a while, and saw this thread on my "My Threads" page. It always makes me smile to think of the messages Pat and I exchanged, and how so many of us keep Pat alive through memory and appreciation. Barb and family, I send all my be...
Cary 306 SACD: How good at redbook playback?
Tboooe...so, what say you?!
Is HDCD dead?
Generally I love the HDCD playback on my Cary 303/300. It can be a little edgy with some material, but where it is edgy it appears to be due to the mastering of the disc rather than the Cary. Of course, running it through the tube output takes tha...
Best rock song of all times
Gotta go with "Limelight" by Rush in the rock genre.
Which CDP Provides Weighty Presentation $2k ?
I've been quite happy with my Cary 303/300 over the last year-plus. I have some hearing loss at 500Hz, and the CD player still sounds balanced to me, so I think it's safe to assume it's pretty robust on the low end. Note that although it has both ...
Rel Strata III versus Rel Britannia B3
Froody, I haven't found much out so far. I'm seeing some appealing prices on the Britannia series right now, so I'm actively researching the issue now. I'll let you know what I find.Howard
Acoustic Zen Adagio, How Good Are They?
I read somewhere (maybe on this thread?) that the Adagios have been modified to "focus the sound toward the tweeter."Has anyone heard both versions to comment on the difference? Also, how would a buyer know whether he was buying the "original" or ...
