Audiophile Grade CDR's
http://www.american-digital.com/prodsite/product.asp?p=870the ones made in colorado springs are said by some reviewers to be the absolute best in existence. Don't know where the ones above are made, but I've used them for years and they're fantastic.
Walmart pushing blu-ray
Blu-ray should be the HD format of choice until HVD matures and comes in to the consumer price range. That will likely be far enough out that Blu-Ray is a worthwhile investment for many people.
2008 RMAF – – – all things analog.
I'm in Colorado Springs on business and will drive up to Denver for the show tomorrow and fly back home late Saturday. I hope to see some of you guys around!
God this is overkill
Not only not laughing, but applauding. There are volumes to be said for the perseverence it takes to complete a complex task, and even more for doing it quickly and efficiently. At least that's what I keep telling myself (and my wife). :-)Congratul...
about to jump into the power cord foray
Blindjim:"How’d you pick your significant other? Did they mind the inspection and measurements taking process?"\The image this sentence conjures will keep me laughing for a month. It probably helps me that my wife is 3 days overdue to give birth.W...
Genuine Telefunken?
Oh no, not a reference to the dreaded Gabriel Gold thread!!!:-)Hmmm... I wonder if the zealots came out of the closet again with the Revelation mkII coming out recently.FWIW, I have a pair of brand Tele 12AU7 ribbed plates that I listened to for a...
Ridge Street Audio Sason Ltd. Loudspeaker
Haven't heard the Hansens, but concur with Musicfile. I've had my Sasons for over a year now, and I'm done with speakers. I hear speakers in other systems as I look for upgrades to my CDP, but I've never heard anything that even makes me wonder if...
Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please
If you can find them used, Taylor Taylo Reference or Mini-Reference are phenomenal little speakers that excel in precisely the areas you value most. I was floored when I heard the Taylo Reference spakers on a Gamut CDP and Quad amp (if I remember ...
Owners of speakers by obscure companies chime in
I too own the RSAD Sason, and my audition process was identical to Rubinken above. I'm with Doubleugly in being open to the virtues of all products, but just as Double believes he'll never own anything other than SP Tech, I believe I'll never part...
how do you deal with heavy power cords?
I made a taller version of Ridge Street Audio Design's "Cable risers" (http://home.comcast.net/~ridgestreetaudio/CableStand.html)to keep my DCCA cord in the wall/power conditioner socket. Works well.
Do I really want the musicians in my room?
Dave, Very interesting. I hadn't thought of it (high resolution) that way. I think about the same kinds of things you mention, but I suppose I never thought of it as interpretation. That's something I'll chew on for a while.I will never have enoug...
Do I really want the musicians in my room?
Yikes! I need to make a correction: the Jade cables are the Vermeils, not the Hybrids.Would love to try the Raptures and Vermeils, but first priority is an AC cord for my amp. I hope to audition those top-of-the-line interconnects later this year ...
Do I really want the musicians in my room?
The cables are not Gabriel. I specifically did not order a pair of the Golds because I knew the MkII are coming out soon, and wanted to see if the revision would improve upon that cable's noted (by its owners) slightly truncated soundstage. (I've ...
Best recordings to demonstrate soundstage?
Go ahead, make fun of me. The Veggie Tales worship songs CD seems to have been recorded with only one microphone, and you can hear every person in the room in their own space. Even if you don't like the music or the message, its use as a diagnosti...
looking for the best music CDR's
Audiojedi is correct, and this is the generally-accepted view in the community from my research over the last few years. A few years ago there was actually a site that tested about a dozen CDR's. It found the Mitsui Gold to be the best (the ones m...
