Cube Audio Nenuphar Single Driver Speaker (10 inch) TQWT Enclosure
Possibly they have found a way to reduce the number of whizzers. My logic may well be faulty but, knowing that they are developing a 15", it would seem that even more WCs would be necessary to flatten its response in comparison to the 10". And tha...
Salk owners -- any interest in a more sensitive Salk model?
It seems that Jim Salk places a high value on even frequency response and phase integrity in his designs. To achieve his goals, in general, seems to require fairly complex crossovers of rather high parts count, High parts count is the enemy of hig...
Cube Audio speakers in Northern California?
I PMed you about three or four days ago, No response so I'm assuming it didn't get there.

Oh, and 1973 was more like 50 years ago...not 30.
Tang Band 2145 in action
I made it through to the end of the MO cut but it was rough. The sound was thin, confused and threadbare. What a cacophony, a jumble of noise. Didn't seem like there was any info at or below 100hz. In defense of the WBers, though, could any system...

@noske    "...nobody who is not Australian...". Freudian Slip???

@mozartfan   BTW, I watched your YT video where you were using RG's bread board SET amp to drive the David Louis WBs. Be advised that the powertube used is the 50 tube and not the 250 tube (is there even such a thing???) and the amp uses two (2) o...

Actually, the speaker in the video was the AG Uno, not that would have changed MF's perspective on anything.
Loudest Sound Ever?
@reubent   The Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway raced for the last time earlier this year and Houston Raceway Park in Baytown is closing up shop for good following the running of the Springnationals a few weeks ago. We had just crossed the st...
Theta Data Basic Transport Repair
About 10-15 years ago the drawer on my Data Basic quit working and it turned out to be "the gear". I called Theta and they said they had one left and, for $100, they'd ship it. This is for a nylon gear no bigger than an inch in diameter, as I reca...
Atma-Sphere MA-1 tube rolling
I've had my MP-1 and M60s for 20 years now. Follow Ralph's advice and stick with the Russian provenance 6AS7Gs or, alternatively, the 6H13C. I had a brief fling with the Chinese variant and found they had a high failure rate/short life span.
Speakers as the principle component/other components are servants
@ mozartfan   Would you clarify the meaning of the phrase "crocking frongs" for the uninitiated, please.
Poor grammar is disappointing and decidedly distracting in formal audio reviews.

Downside of sensitivity?
@johnk I think you pretty well summed it up. If you really want full range and lifelike sound you’ve got to be willing to accommodate the physical size requirements necessary to facilitate it naturally. Otherwise, you’re reduced to trying to bludg...

Do you remember  an ezine called "Stereo Mojo"? They've been gone for awhile but I remember cringing virtually every time I read one of their show reports. It wasn't just comma misuse but every imaginable form of grammatical and mechanical errata ...
