Old, grainy, bright & financially restricted
I second the MIT T2 idea. That is what I use and I just love them. Now and then I try other cables to make sure I am not missing anything but I invariably return to my MITs. They have dynamics like crazy all while remaining super smooth. It is qui...
Need Cable Opinions for Old McIntosh System
I haven't tried 330s yet but I am tempted. After trying various cables, I am pretty well sold on MIT. Once I get a single disc CDP, I will check them out.
how good is the sun audio sv2a3
Sam Tellig has been saying that for years!
speaker cables for Paradigm and Musical Fidelity?
I liked MIT cables with my Paradigm Reference 100.2. I tried various Kimber, Audioquest, and Nordost cables, settling on rather inexpensive MIT T2 biwires. I know MIT offered long runs - I have even seen some for sale on Ebay recently. BTW, going ...
Interconnect downstream flow
The system is only as good as the weakest link. If sound information is to be lost due to the cable, it doesn't matter if you have it below the source or below the preamp - you won't be retaining the "original material" anyway. However, there still...
Maggies and McIntosh 501's?
If you don't mind buying used, there is only one way: "buy and try." You won't lose money (and if you are careful, you can make money) so it is definately worth a shot.I don't ask for opinions anymore because even if the systems are the same, the ...
Need Cable Opinions for Old McIntosh System
I like MITs the most with my McIntoshes. I currently use all T2 (previous version of S1). I compared them in my system to Nordost, Kimber, and Audioquest but I kept the MITs.The MC2100 has one of those tiny barrier strips. The MIT spades will not ...
Best Universal Remote?
McIntosh makes one called the UR-12. It has a touch screen and a data table for manufacturer codes so you don't even have to download them. It looks cool but I haven't personally used it. It is expensive new but I have seen some before on Audiogon...
McIntosh C2200 or Audio Research Reference phono
Mc sounding thin and lean????? That is definately a first! I have auditioned ARC at length and currently own an LS3b and agree with Michaela that ARC is the one that is lean if anything. My McIntoshes are definately sweeter overall.Stereophile and...
Adcom GFA 535II or 545II/suggestions
I had a 555 briefly and thought it was mediocre. However i have a 545 mk2 right now that is WAY better - I am impressed with this amp for the price. It isn't quite as good as my McIntosh but the Mc is a lot more expensive. BTW, I am selling my 545...
McIntosh C2200 or Audio Research Reference phono
The McIntosh C46 preamp phono stage was considered much better than the C2200's in TAS so you could get one of those and equalize your room to boot! Otherwise, adding a separate phono stage may get you the quality you need.
What would be the weakest link in this setup
I would say the amp is the weak link - I would get a McIntosh amp. My Mc works great with my 926s.
Anybody ever hear Alon Exoticas?
They are simply too large and the imaging didn't seem all that great. The store was small and crowded so their postitioning may not have been optimal. It wasn't the best sound I have heard but why that is is anyone's guess.
Low freq. from small drivers? Is it possible
Here is the Royd homepage if you are interested: http://www.roydaudio.com/main.htm
Low freq. from small drivers? Is it possible
The only small speakers I have heard that had ridiculous bass, relatively speaking of course, were Royds. They are tiny floorstanders that have a weird porting design that makes them sound really full range while only having 6 inch drivers (or som...
