Arc Ref 75se vs D'Agostino Momentum Stereo
I own a Momentum Stereo s250 and would never trade for a tube amp. Tons of power with uber finesse and musicality. A modern work of art as well. I personally like my speakers to much to worry about a 'lightbulb' popping at high volume. Just my par...
Wilson Alexia 2
I haven't heard them but purchased a mini version pair of Yvettes. Absolutely ecstatic with the speakers. Imminently musical. Love the new 'low tech' tweeter much has been made of. The highs are detailed and very sweet... Just all around awesome. ...
Rowland versus ARC
i just preferred what i perceived as more transparency/clarity going direct. however the chorus is a very sweet machine and i could easily see someone preferring it. also i don't like not having the famous rowland volume knob and balance control. ...
Rowland versus ARC
Aeris direct to amp pretty stunning. I don't want to start an ARC flame but I've been to JRDG's place of business and strongly believe that he puts vastly more of everything into his products than ARC. His build quality is second to none with prid...
integrated amp recommendation needed
Also Krell made some great integrateds that used could be a great match.
integrated amp recommendation needed
Naim pretty famous for integrates with balls. Your speakers deserve something special. Try Tyler at Next Level Audio. Have only bought one Naim unit from him but he seems like a nice straight up guy. Just an opinion.
$35K to spend, how will you build a system?
I haven't read all the threads but after owning a lot of high end gear I know what I'd likely do. I'd buy used and start with a Dartzeel CTH 8550 integrated amp with the great built in phono stage if you want turntable capability. If digital only ...
Conrad Johnson--does anyone use this brand anymore?
I'm nowadays on the outside looking in but have had some CJ preamps from back a few years ago but their quality control killed CJ for me. Maybe just bad luck but Act2 out of box was dead on arrival and worse was a huge bolt of juice coupled with a...
Floor Stander with Small Footprint 7K - 15K
Revel F206. Punches way above its price class($3500). Gorgeous build and sound. Will not disappoint I assure you and Ive had some big bucks speakers. When you open box and listen you won't be thinking gee I should have spent more and wonder how th...
recommendations for amplifiers that don't emit tons of heat
I like the latest Krell amps very much and they can be bought here for very good prices. True high performance audio. Class A bias with rear fans that are VERY quiet. Some serious engineering went into these amps and they look pretty good in perso...
Upgrade Quandary: Ref 75SE vs Ref 150 (non SE)
Personally I wouldn't give up so soon. Audiophile opinions are a dime a dozen. You bought a great amp. Give it a chance. What often happens is that when you put the old unit back in you're no longer sure which is best. Finally if you love your Ref...
Another preamp suggestion thread for my Kharma/Mac combo
is the mac amp truly balanced or would a single ended pre work. love the kharma's by the way.
2017 ‘Keeper’ speakers under - $25K
No tubes needed on latest Wilson's with new soft dome tweeter. It's very extended and smooth. Not exotic which is fine with me. Also top solid state amps are so good that that's not an issue as well. I love my Yvettes and I'm not some big Wilson f...
Why do McIntosh come with cheap plastic remotes?
Absolutely needs to be of same quality standard as the base component . It is the main interface with the unit after all. You pay 10k for a pre and operate it with a $20 remote would only occur in audio. The logic that the manufacturer is putting ...
2017 Honest Cabling that doesn’t promote bankruptcy
Last comment. If you pick up used AQ Niagara interconnects you'll never look back. Can be had for 60-70% off if you are patient. Was a $2000m silver cable before newest model came out of which I can't discern the difference. Very smooth and detailed.
