Current NAD integrated amps, what are your impressions?
They have had their issues over the years, but I think the vast majority of owners are happy.
Integrated Amp recommendation for $300 that will balance well with Vandersteen and NAD
The weak point was the C370 in my opinion.  I owned the C372 and C326BEE and compared them extensively.  The C372 was indeed somewhat dark and laid back compared to the 326.  NAD definitely made some changes with the BEE series stuff.  I'm assumin...
Need Small Bookshelf Speakers With a Big Sound
As soon as I saw this thread, I predicted a lot of brands being suggested, and there surely are!I'll 2nd the Acend Sierra 2 though.  These are some serious big sounding speakers that can take 250 watts at higher volumes and make your jaw drop, I a...
The most transparent speaker cable
I used my 12 gauge stranded oxygen free copper lamp cord, for several years.  Then, after I got into 2 channel again and upgraded everything else, I was still unhappy with the sound.  Oppo, Parasound Halo, Paradigm Signature in my system then, and...
Parasound p5 vs avr ???????
Rightly or wrongly in this audio adventure, I finally decided that how it sounds is the bottom line for me.  That's why I sold the Oppo and various Emotiva gear and ended up with Parasound and some Nad pieces.Anyway, as for this P5, it does look a...
Help choose best amp/preamp combo?
Hi lucky, glad you found a solution for you system, and yes, the P7 sounds very good with the A21.  I would say it's on the warm side a little.  Recently I upgraded my car system and can hear highs/cymbals more clearly in the car, so it is a littl...
Parasound p5 vs avr ???????
Not sure where you're getting this info about the P5, Eric.  Are you basing it on your own experience with the P5?  I've got the P7 myself and was debating the P5 when I found a used P7.  I did much research on the P5 and never heard or read anyth...
help a Die hard ANALOG guy choose a budget CDP
I had the Emotiva ERC-1 and it was underwhelming(I'd stay away from them since the ERC 1 and 2 both had issues).  I upgraded to the Oppo 95, which though an improvement, seemed somewhat harsh at higher volumes, and not organic but too detailed, at...
Current NAD integrated amps, what are your impressions?
I think I concur on the 326BEE and speaker loads because its max power consumption is under 2 amps.  It does just fine with the Tannoy or Paradigm bookshelf speakers, but has its limits with the 4 ohm Totems.  BTW, I replaced the stock preamp jump...
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
Good points, Mike, modern speaker designs are way beyond what was tinkered with back in the 30s, 40s or 50s.  And of course the speaker cabinet's material depends on the price point.  Soundsreal seems to think that every speaker being made today i...
Help choose best amp/preamp combo?
Lucky, good find on the JC2!  I've got the A21 with a P7 from Parasound.  I concur with auxinput that you only use the Main outputs of the JC2 for the A21.   Hopefully you have XLR cables to go from the JC2 output to the a21 inputs?  They look lik...
Ascend Sierra 2's vs. Monitor Audio GX 50's or GX 100's
I've had the Sierra 2 for about 2 years but no experience with the MA speakers.  What's impressed me most about the Sierra 2 is the level of detail.  Vocals, piano, or analog type of instrument sound so realistic and in the room, all without getti...
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
Well, space travel is irrelevant, but since it was brought up…There's nothing on the moon worth going back for, but many probes out to Mars, etc., use technology that would have been impossible in the 60's.  The data gathered from those probes and...
Against everything that high end cables stand for
The speaker cable made up of small gauge silver or copper, or silver coated copper, is not exactly new.  Kimber, Audioquest and Morrow have variations of this to great results, as does the above mentioned Clear day.  Smaller gauge wire removes the...
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
Taste comes into play here, certainly, as does vintage bias and the "they-don't-make-'em-like-they-used-to" bias, or the "China sucks" bias.  Technology has advanced to such an extent that the '30's can realistically be seen as the cave man days, ...
