Adding an Sub that doesn't go well below speakers?
@hilde45   "then, the phase control is used to align the sub with the main speakers." How do you do this?  Are you using your ears or a mic and software?   I don't think my ears can pick it up phase difference between a main speaker and a sub (le...
Too powerful of an amp!?
@carlsbad2  +1 - Carls is right - we typically use very little power for most listening.  A clean amplified signal is better, even if it is 'only' 100 watts.  In my system I bet I only use the first 20 watts before it is too loud.
Stoned ice coffee?
@mahgister  I like your second post.   I think what happens is lifestyle creep.  Using Mick as an example, He may have 50 million (I assume he is not a saver) - but he has 3 big $ houses, a yacht, and a private jet, plus child support and ex wives...
Ethernet Switch- what's the point?
@zavato   Proceed with caution - there is a lot of wrong info in this thread. @carlsbad2 You don't understand the technology. @fredrik222 I admire your perseverance, but you will never change their positions.  No reason to continue.  It reminds ...
G Rated Comments About the Relevance of Pink Floyd’s Animals Album:
as I sit in my house build by a mega corp, running my AC (made by a mega corp), with electricity (made by a mega corp), on my fancy computer (made by a mega corp) or phone (made by a mega corp) on an operating system (made by a mega corp) to discu...

How do I know if my systems any good?
The answer is, it is all relative. If you compare your system to a 10 dollar boom box, it is amazing. Compared to a 250k reference system, your system is likely not so great. I don’t know your system, but I can say with confidence that compared to...
Best Connection Method for a Sub(s)
Thanks everyone.  That was not the answer I was expecting.  It helped with a sub decision though.
So This Really Is The End....
I'm totally relying on  downloads, internet orders and Qobuz. Anyway, just feeling "sentimental so thanks!" Part of what we lose is the social interaction and that 'in store' experience.  I think that is part of why you are feeling a sense of los...
Happy Accident
Crazy right.  I sit further back from my speakers then the distance between them and have found the best soundstage when I don't have much toe in in the speaker.  Really depends on the speaker and room.  I was surprised how much a few changes will...
Update on good Ethernet switch
It's really disappointing to see how some members treat others. There are members with vast technical knowledge who post beneficial and accurate information to help us efficiently improve our audio systems and they are attacked and dismissed. It r...
$50k - $80k Budget…Opinions please.
I agree with others.  This will require a lot of leg work, and that is part of the fun.  For that money you have to listen.  The upside is that you know what you like and have a trained ear so I think you will know it when you hear it.  You may li...
Subwoofer recommendation
I am not an expert but am happy with the Rythmik sub.  I have a F12.  You could get a couple for $2500.
How can you evaluate a system with highly processed music?
@cd318 & @onhwy61  Thanks.  That is helpful.  I am not a musician nor do I create or music - I am a consumer - and I often wonder - what is that instrument or is it a computer/synth or even does their voice really sound like that ?!.   Your c...
How can you evaluate a system with highly processed music?
Taking a step back, how can we know the level of processing applied to music?   I often wonder when listening to a passage or song the amount of post processing and the source of the sound:  Voice, manipulated voice, computer, synth, instrument . ...
