Selling here on Audiogon

Hi it's been quite a while since I listed items for sale here on "Agon" what has  happened? It seems like gear used to move fast vs other sites  I don't want to mention the other sites name in fear of the almighty censor gods removing my post. Anyway has  anyone else experienced this?

I usually look at the dealer demo ads first; I prefer buying from them to just "some guy", if possible at a reasonable price.

Might be a bit more expensive, but will also be covered under some kind of warranty, and will be much easier to deal with if there are any problems.

Hi i think the fee on Audiogon is pretty high now.

On small items not so much but on heavy high end gear it really gets a lot and that is a shame and probaly why some may go to other sites.

happy lisining

@thastum  Agree. I would list my speaker but $500 is too high considering they might not even sell. You can list for $5 but can't share info so it's very difficult to sell. Dealers apparently pay very little because you see the same guy from Chicago list the same stuff for years on end.

Many here weren’t around to experience AG in its heyday. This place used to be the hottest place on the net when the net had barely developed. I received an email from an individual who had been monitoring members of Usenet and rec.audio forums who referred me to this new audio forum called AG. That first webpage had smoking buys, and from honest sellers!! Those were the days. But what I can’t believe is the number of great buys that I’ve seen lately on that other place that simply sit. It’s as if nobody is looking. I’ve posted good buys there as well that didn’t sell. I’ve purchased from here but haven’t listed anything here in 20 years. But this place at one time was the finest on the internet. Those days are long gone.

I see multiple issues with selling used gear now days..
First is the indisputable fact that the price/performance of so called entry/mid fi gear has lowered the law of diminishing returns to well under $1000.00,making new gear purchases with full warranties a better bargain..
Add to that the fact that shipping cost have gone through the roof ,along with seller fees on A’gon,Fleabay & other sites, making it a losing proposition..
