Very interesting review. Not sure why @bigkidz discounts the use of reviews that come from credible sources. I for one don't have the opportunity to run out and buy, or demo everything that comes along so the reviewer plays an important role in the chain of information. The most disturbing thing I find in this review is the concept that a $1500 amp could possibly replace my $15,000 amps (times 2 for mono blocks). I suspect there are many like me who don't want to believe the day is coming when our very expensive amps will be boat anchors. My son-in-law is of the generation that can't believe the money I have tied up in traditional SS amp. He's Class D all the way. I'll keep my head in the sand as long as possible. 😆

Agreed @mahgister I discount one-off reviews but when you have several excellent reviews and actual owners on forums giving thumb up on a of component then I take notice. I bought my Warp 1 amp because I needed an amp while waiting for my Decware tube amp to be built (2 year wait). I prefer the sound of tube amps but thought I would try a highly recommended ( by reviews, forums, maker) Class D amp. Didn’t hurt I got a nice discount on it so really a no risk purchase. I have it hooked up to a Supratek tube preamp with 91db speakers and it amazes. It will be nice to compare and rotate it with my Decware amp arrival. I don’t play in the $10,000+ market but do enjoy this TPA 3255 chip amp. |
