Are some streaming players more reliable than others?

I love streaming music and listen to my CD player and TT less and less these days.  It's almost like having the world's music library at your feet, al for $149 /year (Qobuz). That said, I'm pulling my hair out between drop-outs, freezes, devices not being recognized, etc.  It' s always something.  My personal opinion:  It seems to me that this is a wonderful idea that was foistered on us before the bugs were worked out of the technology.  Now that I have vented, can someone tell me if some streamers are less problematic than others?  My present set-up:

MBL CD 31 CD player / DAC

Sonore Ultra-rendu

EtherNet Regen

Using MConnect for the connecting software.

thanks.

I recently switched to a Allo USBridge Signature with Shanti power supply and (knock on wood) have yest o have a single streaming issue. I use roon and qobuz.  My dedicated NUC streaming as a roon endpoint had all the same problems you report.

I haven’t had a drop out, freeze or any glitch of any kind for at a year. A high quality streamer should shield you from that. Both of my Aurender streamers have some file space on them… I copied a bunch of my albums (2,000) onto it, in case of an internet outage. But haven’t used it in a year.

My iPad will not load sometimes because the internet is slow, but my streamer continues without any hesitation.

I’m just guessing you need a better streamer. Mine works from a wall wart wiFi extender and gives me reliable sound quality equivalent to my really good vinyl analog side without a glitch… ever.

I do not have drop outs. My Blue Sound Node 2 sounds a touch better than my Marantz SA8004 CD player. I have had drop outs in the past but very, very limited.

I've been using the same Auralic Aries Mini for some 5 years now I almost never get dropouts and it's been super stable.

I don’t think there’s anything inherently unstable about streaming. I have a fairly simple, relatively inexpensive streaming setup in my main system, Bluesound Node 2i feeding a Ben Canto DAC 3, on to a Raven Audio integrated and have never had a dropout or interruption of any kind while listening several hours a day over the last two or three years. The only other element in the chain is the WiFi itself, AT&T fiber, which has also been completely trouble free.
